I'm not quite sure about that yet, there's still quite a bit of "wage outliers" on the low-side in the industry (non-regional).

Airlines like JetBlue now have a retention bonus to try to keep pilots. When the legacy hiring really kicks in, pilots from Regionals and LCCs are going to try to jump in for better pay, benefits, and upward movement leading to better QOL compared to their previous jobs. Hopefully that will force the lower paying airlines to increase their compensation packages, which will help everyone, except the Regionals that will be drained of most of their pilots. Places like Riddle are getting darn expensive, and the AF has a lot of "drone pilots", and they aren't producing as many pilots as before. There is obviously going to be a shortage within the next decade, and higher pay will lead pilots away from lower paying airlines. It might get really messy.

This is definitely going to be an issue. Guys I know that would normally get out of the AF and go direct to a major are now looking at a regional gig due to their lower hours and non-currency due to RPA flying. Some don't have enough hours for an ATP. Many are hoping to join guard/reserve units in order to build time, but demand for those jobs will quickly outstrip supply IMHO.

I think the end result is either more mainline flying, or increased wages to attract/keep regional pilots, which leads to the same result. Good news either way for mainline pilots that have suffered for over a decade from the opposite trend.

Mr lee.

That is not the reason for the bonus at JetBlue.
It had to do with our 13% raise and our 1st year pay.
It's a long story, yes it might help keep some guys but he has more to do with a previous lawsuit and our personal employment agreements.
Jus an FYI.
But yes we have had and will have guys leave for other airlines.

The General. Once again talking about something he doesn't know about, regarding a company he doesn't work for. All based on what he read on FI. Hey General you should stick to your rediculous Delta VS. SW scuffles. That way you at least sound somewhat educated on the topic at hand.

Sounds like a growing hiring boom, as prdicted in 2010 to start in 2012. It has not even started to peak. Oh! to be 33 again and coming out of the Navy without all those other Vietnam era pilots looking for job.

Let you guess you still ended up at a major in a few short years? Now lets see how it is now?..

Nope never made the "Show". I wish they would have had something like Job Fairs back in the late 70's, could have been a big help.
