Can anyone give me any info on Airtran?

I.e. current pay for new hires?

B-717 and B-737-700 pay:
1st yr F/O now $39.50/hr, after 04/01/04 $42.75/hr
2nd year now $53.49/hr, after 04/01/04 $55.94/hr
Capts make between aprox $110/hr-$153/hr

Upgrades have been running between 18-36 months.

B-737-800 pay (if we get any) will be 13% higher.

Yearly stock option grants and company funded B-fund retirement.

Use the search function, you'll get all the AirTran info you'd ever need.

Won't anybody on the regional forum talk to you about this?

As a passenger, I have to say that AirTran is THE worst airline out there. There are other airlines that are hiring, PLEASE don't go to AirTran.

A Passenger...

I think you are on the wrong forum. Airliners.net is the place for passengers who think they know everything there is to know about airlines and aviation.

A Passenger...> I don't think that the original poster was asking for advice on whether or not to go to Air Tran. You are on the wrong site sir.

Airtran newspaper article

Here is an article about AirTran from the Sun 14 Sep Atlanta paper,

http://www.ajc.com/business/content/business/delta/0903/14airtran.html

As we have discussed here before, the AirTran pilot's union stuck together after 9/11 and didn't sh*t on the junior guys. Look where that's got them today.......in pretty good shape.

Now look at the current situation with the Delta mainline pilots' union: they will be below UPS pilots hourly rate when the next UPS step-up kicks in, they have about 1,100 juniors out on furlough from the attacks of 9/11 (not counting the War furloughees who have seen a recall schedule enacted) and they are embroiled in contract give-back talks with the company.

The best part is that the DMEC screams about the senior exec's taking a pension increase during the tough times since 9/11, but the remaining pilots getting a paycheck sure aren't refusing their most recent raise, a total sum far greater than the pension dollars about which they are so critical.

There is a huge difference between paying money to fly on an airline and actually flying for the airline. How many times have you flown on Airtran? I hope you are not basing your opinion of Airtran on one experience.

Pax get pi$$ed when they or their bags misconnect, get bumped for weight and balance, etc. To us pilots, that has no bearing on our job. We don't get bumped, lose our bags, or misconnect.
