blah blah blah.........none of the good stuff we were hoping to hear about:
Yesterday evening we signed a Memorandum of Understanding with United Airlines to amend our United Express Agreement and continue flying as a United Express carrier. This agreement is a major step toward removing the cloud of uncertainty that has hung over Air Wisconsin since United went into bankruptcy last December.
We also learned yesterday that our flight attendants have ratified the tentative agreement reached three weeks ago, which provides for a significant reduction in our inflight costs. We are gratified that our flight attendants understand the necessity of providing competitive costs to United and we greatly appreciate their support in helping us do so. We would like to commend the Association of Flight Attendants (AFA) negotiating committee and leadership for their understanding and hard work, both in negotiating the agreement and in helping their members understand how critical it was that it be ratified.
Our Memorandum of Understanding with United provides for an amended United Express Agreement that will run through 2014. It also provides for a separate station agreement with a two-year term under which we would continue to handle our own flights at Denver and Chicago and at approximately the same number of out stations as we handle today.
The agreement is conditioned on negotiating the final agreements and on approval by the Bankruptcy Court. It is also conditioned on our ability to deliver the labor cost savings that were included in our bid. Ratification of amended agreements with both our pilots and flight attendants take us a long way toward removing that condition. It is now absolutely crucial that we conclude agreements with our mechanics and agents as well. Until our agreement with United is finalized, we continue to run the risk that our flying will be turned over to another carrier. As many of you know, Mesa announced yesterday that it has signed an MOU to provide United with 35 to 60 regional jets.
We appreciate the support many of you have expressed as we have worked through this difficult process. We will keep you informed as we try to bring it to conclusion.
I love the timing of these announcements.....if you ask me this basically just says "BOO! ACA mgmt......we just signed a deal with Air Wis", so you better get on the train........if they actually put a number on the number of a/c and all the details it might give ACA's mgmt a reason to say "screw this there's nothing left anyway" or string them along into better deals, either way I guess with this announcement it makes our paycut effective. Yea!!!!.......whatever! AD
