I wanted to make the visitors of this site aware of a well-hidden tool, the accident/incident database at NASDAC (National Aviation Safety Data Analysis Center). Most people know about the NTSB site, but that only reports on accidents. This database has incidents and you can search by N#, Airport Name, Aircraft Make/Model, Operator, etc. It goes back to at least 1981 but I'm not sure how far. I searched for the aircraft I rent and found that in 1981, "18 inches of the propeller blade seperated in flight" on the C-172. Anyway it's really interesting. The frustrating thing is the search page has a listing of every single airport and aircraft and it takes a long time to load.
