I was being commercial’ed on American and sat in the back of the airplane (S80). About a minute or two after takeoff they had compressor stall on the left engine, they shut it down and we were landing back at O'Hare some 5 minutes later. (MX guys were saying they sucked in a bird).
Great job guys!
They got us another airplane, new crew (I think 1 FA and the FO flew again) and about an hour and a half later we were on our way. Pretty impressive.
I was riding in my uniform and on the first flight there were several AA pilots and flight attendants jumpseating home and they too had their uniforms on. However, when we came back to the gate all of them took a different flight as they thought the flight would be cancelled.
Well, it wasn't and the ‘funny’ part is that numerous passengers kept asking me if this flight would really be safe and if so, how come all the pilots and the flight attendants got off the airplane!? I thought it was funny how passengers make their own interpretations of everything they see.
Overall – great job to the entire crew of AA flight 405!
