Second quarter 2014 non-GAAP net profit excluding net special charges was $1.5 billion, a record for any quarter in the history of American Airlines

Second quarter 2014 GAAP net profit was a record $864 million

The Company also announced a capital deployment program, including over $2.8 billion in debt and aircraft lease prepayments, a $1 billion share repurchase program, the initiation of a quarterly cash dividend, and $600 million of additional pension contributions

As part of the program, American's Board of Directors declared a dividend of $0.10 per share for shareholders of record as of August 4, 2014. The cash dividend is the first declared by American since 1980
 
Congratulations- there has been so much turmoil for more than a decade at all 3 combined airlines- I'm happy for everyone that good times have finally arrived-
 
Just curious, the higher post merger pay scale has kicked in correct?...... The point being that the industry doesn't need concessionary USAPA type wages to make a profit. Interesting that with the large boost in pilot wages also comes a huge gain in profits. No I'm not saying that is why, just that it didn't hinder it.
 
You mean greed doesn't pay anywhere? And in a consumer based economy, middle class wages actually stimulate the whole economy?
And the ship doesn't sink or swim on pilot pay?

;)

So happy with the results posted industry wide today
This has been well earned by employees at all airlines

New payrates/work rules effective 12/9/13
 
No kidding. 9K+ last year. I don't even want to know what this year would have been.

Looks like it could be 12-15% of W2 for DL pilots..... Then add a 15% DC fund contribution on top of it, for the profit sharing check...

It will just be a matter of time before AA catches up to DL with reagards to profit sharing. We are a few years behind you guys with respect to a merged airline, but our profits are catching up quickly to yours. Once we are able to take advantage of our synergies, we will be unstoppable.
