I had forgotten that happened on Halloween. Still remember seeing the initial news reports of it.
 
My uncle was a new 737 captain for UAL, scheduled to go IND-ORD that same day. He cancelled for weather, and is pretty sure that some of his passengers ended up on 4184.

People getting on a turboprop in bumpy weather with lots of snow and a frontal passage and it's halloween night . . . .

. . . crashing was probably what some of those poor passengers were expecting. I made sure I was extra careful tonight thinking of them . . .

The fellow that got me into aviation was American Airlines. He told the story when I was in flight school. Very sad. It's an unforgiving profession in more ways than one.
