If shutting down an engine due to a failure, push the throttle forward a little to see if anything changes. If you feel a yaw, make sure you have the correct throttle. Just one more technique.

Sometimes in training we get so hung up on shutting down a failed engine, what the hell for? I agree. Do nothing for the first 1,000 feet. If it is on fire, memory items only. If its not burning leave it the freak alone.

Fly the airplane first !!!
 
no VMC rollover, one failed, the other one shut off by mistake, stall and roll...
