Total Number of Pilots out of work?

Does anyone out there have an idea of the percentage total of pilots whom are unemployed?

Don't know the percentages but Airborne Express has 14 on furlough, America West furloughed 115, American--595, ATA--106, Continental--Furloughing 423 by 12/31, Delta Airlines---Furloughed 400 11/1---may furlough up to 1700 total, Northwest-----Furloughed 45 with up to 347 by 1/02, TWA---Furloughed 177----52 more furloughs DEC, United Airlines---Furloughed 591, US Airways--Furloughed 32 10/15, furloughed 434 12/2/01, furloughing 405 1/1/02, 134 1/31/02, 132 3/02, 25 4/02, 101 5/02, & 102 6/02. That sums it up for the majors, lots of others on furlough at Continental express (352), emery, sun country, ..............to numberous to list......

I'd say pretty much everybody is chopping 20%, which I am a part of...

Thanks for the information. I gives a pretty clear picture of the affect 9-11 has had on our industry.

I am very optimistic! I believe that by the summer of 2002 many of the pilots out of work will be hired again; For sure by the Fall of 2002!

Skywalker, Sorry to hear you are also furloughed. The good news is that Mesaba cancelled it's Dec. 1 furloughs - total of 54 currently furloughed at Mesaba. Express One has recalled many pilots, I THINK they have recalled everyone who had gotten through training before being recalled.

At Eagle they cancelled the 100 more furloughs for December but are currently looking at 50 more in January...
