Well folks, it's official in my squadron:

"Due to stop-loss and the sqd. at 100%+ manning we are out of numbers for call signs. By the end of October we could have almost 15 people without a permanent number. So, until the numbers go down, those of you with an 8x or 9x call sign and all the new IPs will have to choose a number on a daily basis. The open numbers are posted on the duty desk board just as we do with the formation call signs. If your show at base ops is before the duty desk is open then obviously you or the students will need to grab a number the day prior."

Seems like manning here's doing pretty darn well since 9/11; and getting better by the day!
