RVSM = pilots + aircraft + mx

Pilot require initial training and recurrent training. FSI has a great course which can be added to your recurrent sim/check.

RVSM isn't as simple as the manufacturer certifying the aircraft. Your specific airplane must also be certified (your servicing FSDO will help). This includes your maintenance procedures for your ADC's, altimeters, autopilot, altitude alert etc. Your "boxes" must be inspected and calibrated yearly. If you are already CAT II certified, your maintenance will be familiar with the procedures for certifying the system and the RVSM cert is very similar.

ICAO equip codes:

R = RNAV (Euro RNP5)
Y = 8.33
W = RVSM
X = MNPS
/S = TCAS II v.7
