Does an airline really need to "...raise awareness of farming..." ?

"Jared Simon, senior director of marketing for the company, says right now they are growing Adirondack blue potatoes at JFK to raise awareness of farming.

'Most people have probably not been to a potato farm,' Simon said. 'It's really about the education. There's such a desire from consumers to connect what they are eating with where it is from.' "

Just a marketing stunt thought up by some manager trying to justify his job. It will cease to exist inside a year I am sure.

Don't doubt that a bit. :D

How much did that "stunt" cost JB ? Tell people about FARMING ???

Ya gotta be kidding me !!!

Find the pencil monkey who thought up that thing and put his sorry butt in the road.

Maybe the money would've been better spent elsewhere ?

Maybe funding an ab initio program ?

It's jetblue.
Do you work here, why do you care?
They have always done stuff like this.
They are brand freaks and many people say it's a PR company with an airline.
The NY freaks love this stuff, hey look a garden and its sustainable yay yay.
Everyone in Idaho would just roll their eyes and say jet who?
But we are a NY based airline so they are playing to the audience.

As far as cost, we just got an email about 8% PS to be paid early in November with more to come at the end of q4 I think that is a first for us(the early part anyway) Look the company is making money lots of it and we are working hard to get a CBA so if anything we can look at this and say hey if you can spend money in stuff like this you can afford a great CBA.

They can announce a new whatever farm in every damn city we serve as long as they continue to follow it up the next week with an additional 8% profit sharing check.

Uuum, I don't and I don't.

Just watchin' the world go by and commenting occasionally...like people do on forums. :D

Good luck with your CBA.

Yeah, passing down the tax burden to its employees. We've been fleeced again. Pilots are a bunch of chumps

I thought hipsters were more into apiaries?

Not sure exactly what you mean. We can pay taxes on 8% this year and another 8ish% next year, or all 16ish% next year. Personally I will take 8% this year and put that money to work for me 5-6 months earlier. If you don't want your 8% due to the taxes send me your 8% and I will gladly pay that portion of your income tax bill.

Maybe a honey farm is next.
Save the bees :) (we really should save the bees)

The funny part is I asked about 10 family members and friends what they thought about this "farm" and they all freaking loved it.

Who knows, just give me a good CBA
