How's life at UPS for the junior guys? Schedule, bases, equipment, reserve time, upgrade projection, fleet growth or renewal, etc....

We appreciate the Intel :)

Any idea on the numbers UPS is looking to hire?

Also, what is considered competitive for UPS? Do they even look at you if you don't have any internal recs?

Thanks!

Just to pile on...on airlinepilotcentral.com it showed no 401K match, but they did have an A/B pension. How many years to vest? Any way to calculate payout for 15 - 20 years of work??

As a 10 year UPS FO, life here is OK. If you can accept the fact that you work for a trucking company, you may be fine. This is NOT a real airline in terms of how they run things. The second they do not need you, you will either be furloughed or more likely displaced to another aircraft. YOU WILL WORK NIGHTS!!!!! There is day flying, but YOU WILL WORK NIGHTS! It is unavoidable here. Been here 10 years and still very junior. Base line trips and reserve are the norm. Upgrade time is realistically about 15-20 years right now. Junior base right now is SDF on the 757 Domestic. You will work your ass off on the 757. No fleet growth at this time as we just took delivery of our last new 767 last year. Would not be shocked to see them park some 757's very soon. UPS is very conservative on how they run the airline. The are hiring 40 this year, but probably need twice that much. If 117 come to us, look for hundreds of new hires. They run this place very thin, but they also have another pilot group(NURPS) that are on call 24/7.

The good about UPS, pay is tops, benefits are unmatched for now. New contract may change that. A plan,B plan. Free uniforms, luggage, IPads, and pilot group and Union are the best I've been around. GOOD LUCK!!
