FFDO impersonates Police Officer and tries to make an arrest

FFDO's aren't the only ones with the occasional issue. In fact the record of safety and regulatory compliance is higher for FFDOs than many if not most other departments. Every agency, company and airline has its goobers. But for the most part, pilots are generally geared to knowing the rules and following them, safety and compliance are taught to us from day one in almost every aspect of our job.

A FAM left his gun in the lav, another shot a hole in his hotel room wall, cops have had accidental discharges and many LOEs have tried to exercise authority outside of their jurisdiction. It happens among all departments.
 
Contrary to what Palmer tells everyone he is not an FFDO, but he is a bail bondsmen, sheriff's deputy, bounty hunter, city cop, FBI-CIA-DEA-NSA agent, minor league ball player, consultant to the television show COPS, aerobatic pilot, owns a turbocharged aztec,
wife is an FBI agent, thinks he is being watched but some security entity, waiting on a FFDO class date, has an extensive automatic weapon collection, test pilot for NASA, drone pilot for the DEA...etc.

... he's being modest he was also a door gunner on the international space station.

You are sooooo busted for saying all that, especially if you turn out to be a "junior" pilot.
 
You guys crack me up...Palmer...lol. Miss that guy. He was so much fun to commute with. He never could figure out how, by being a tool, he ensured that I got business class on AirTran. After him, I could charm the agent out of almost anything.

The USAir pilot should not have been messing with his gun in flight. He violated SOP and got hammered for it. As well he should have. That holster was not UNSAFE if you followed the instructions...like a lawnmower. As a matter of fact, I prefer the locking holster over the abortion that we've got now.

1. The holster must not make contact with or actuate
any of the operating controls. This includes the
hammer, slide release, magazine release lever,
and most importantly the control lever and the
trigger
. The design of the holster must also not
actuate these controls when the pistol is carried in,
drawn from, or returned to the holster.

The HK manual would seem to differ.
