Pilot shortage at ExpressJet? There are early termination clauses in our CPA's. SkyWest will keep their classes going at full tilt or expand their ability. Then they begin terminating our CPA's early and renewing and or refleeting with larger aircraft over there. No TPA protection there. Basically, we are staffed for Jan 4. Unless there is absolutely huge attrition, no FO after midyear will upgrade if this begins to happen.

As far as new hires go, what do they look for? A quick upgrade, not a stale dying airline we will likely become. All the potential new hires will flock to SkyWest and here we will sit. You can keep pointing at the "shortage" or the new FAR's but neither present any leverage. Thump your chests all you like but once you're sore from it, read the contract and look around at the industry and make your decision. If we get the chance.

The longevity status of pilots at this airline is about to become very skewed, when we become a lot smaller. LXJT side will most likely lead the way. Senior LASA guys will try to ride it out.

There's a reason why management is trying to get your contract and new negotiations done here as well right now.

Of course there is. Company wants to lock in cheap rates and shetty QOL issues before the so called pilot shortage, after which the peelits 'may' have the advantage. My money is on the Co, this will pass because too many of y'all are pussies.

so what are the details or is everyone just speculating

Oh we're mostly speculating but enough has leaked out (union won't buy Depends ya know) that we have an idea. Pretty much cost neutral for the ASA side, and concessions for the XJT side. Lousy 1% cost of living increases while evrything goes up, like gas and health care.

Social Security tax is going up 1.5% next year so I hear! Did anyone find a Sky West pay scale yet? Can you imagine if ALPO agreed to a contract with rates less than them?

SKYW pay is about $4-6 more than Asa plus they dont pay no union dues, then threes those perf bonuses that XPO dipstick is always bragging about, always more than Asa/XJT

The company is saying if we don't agree they will transfer flying to SkyWest. Really? So how will SkyWest find enough pilots to take our routes? Even if this is a cost neutral contract, how does approving this benefit the company? The only way this TA will benefit the company is for this to be a pay cut overall. At a minimum, surely this is cost neutral. So why would you lose flying if overall nothing has changed? Smoke and mirrors. I don't buy it.
It's easy. You will apply to SkyWest, get hired and whalla your on first year fo pay. Instant cost savings...
