i was flying an islander charter to st martin (caribbean) a year ago and both VOR's were tuned in to st martin, but the heading didn't seem right.

i got a vector, but my co-pilot (our chief pilot) said the vector was wrong and that the VOR was correct.

fortunately i spotted a fishing boat and guessd he was going to st martin. (it was) - center's vector was correct

it turns out that the two VOR's in the nav stack on the panel were interfereing with each other. If i had turned one of them off, i would've gotten a good signal. i've never heard of that before. i felt lame being lost at sea in the age of GPS.
