What is the latest on Continental Express? Did I hear they go by a new name? Are any of the pilots being called back? Any info on the company or when they might start hiring again would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
JDJ

Coex was spun off into a separate company in April. Originally it was to happen last fall, but postponed after Septembers events. The new company name is Expressjet. They haven't recalled anyone of the 385 or so pilots that were furloughed (this number is xjet only, not including Continental mainline). The folks in flight ops are reported to predict that recalls won't happen until well into the fourth quarter of this year.

They are still taking delivery of all their RJ orders from Embraer, including the XR which will start this summer. But this is mitigated by the early retirement of the emb-120's which was complete I think the last day of April. So as of now there are 150 RJ's and 21 ATR's (give or take 1 or 2).

Bottom line, the future for this company looks decent, but don't look for them to hire off the street for quite a while.

Another note of interest is that contract openers (new contract)are being presented in a couple weeks. It will be interesting to see how smoothingly this negotiation process goes...

For those of you that think that you want to come to COEX, dust off the resumes. There should be some hiring at the begining of the year. With our aggressive growth plains we'll have to start hiring by the begining of "03". Hope fully CAL will start recalling next summer, and as a result will lead to record hiring. As well as upgrades should go back to about 1 1/2 to 2 years again, or maybe even less! We are getting between 4 and 5 planes a month. Oh yea we do have a few retirements in the coming years.

For you guys instructing and looking to work for the best small jet carrier, you might want to look at COEX. Hopefully we will have an industry changing contract by next summer also. Wish Us Luck! ;) This could be a good place to hang out until the majors start calling again.

update res

Interview postponed last year, just curious if anyone has updated resumes with coex and how if they did?????? Thanks

Right now the recruiting dept. is shut down. They should get it up and running sometime towards the end of the year.

Thanks for the info. I will continue instructing and put the resume in as soon as they start taking them. Has anyone heard of a domicile coming to TYS?

Thanks again,
JDJ
