fwiw... CAL furloughed 310 (or so) in October, another 50 in November, then 75 (active) pilots in December. Most have flowed back to Express - including the off-the-street people - but, a few were too junior to even hold a spot at Express. Word is that, barring anything else happening, that will be the end of the furloughs here.
There'll be another system bid out sometime mid-Dec. to mid-Jan. to balance the system.
I filled out a FAM application - just in case... heard that I was tentatively qualified for the "I" pay scale. We had a couple of FAA inspectors on board the other day - they said they were going to start "aggressively" filling the positions starting in January. I hope I won't need it.
