Let's get our ducks in a row and start organizing some data on where the best place to be based is in case of the worst.

I've heard tell of some guys getting up to $40k for retraining after 9/11, and others not able to get a penny over their weekly unemployment checks - all depending on where they were based. It seems there might be a strategy in bidding the base with the best benefits; i.e. bid JFK instead of MCO.

My questions are:

1) Where and how do you get the retraining money if you are furloughed?

2) Are you eligible in the state you live in or the state where you are based?

3) Does the location of the company HQ have any bearing on getting finiancial support and training money?

Post any links if you have them, please. There are some brothers and sisters getting ready to face a really tough couple of years.
