Had LASIK three years ago and can still read the 20/15 line.

My advice: Know ALL the risk factors, as they pertain to YOU. Then decide if you are willing to accept the risks. The risks are different for each person because of differences if pre-op visual accuity and eye health and general health.

Second: Go to a VERY experienced surgeon who has performed THOUSANDS of procedures and uses the LATEST equipment. DO NOT go to the place who prints a $299 per eye coupon in the local paper. Prices have gone way down in recent years, but I paid $2400 per eye three years ago and it was money well-spent. I had mine done at TLC Tulsa. TLC has many centers around the country and offers a life-time guarantee.

As far as airlines, I called several airlines before I had the procedure, and none had any limitiations. It's a safe and accepted procedure these days. About a month after I sent the "Report of Eye Evaluation" form to the FAA, they sent me a fresh medical with no restrictions. That was it. Then I reported it to my AME at my next physical. No problems.

Good luck, and LEARN THE RISKS!
