The next 5 yrs at Flex

I realize this will be a very incendiary post, but I will ask anyway. Last night I had dinner with a good friend of mine who is coming to the end of his FLOPs contract. I do not know the numbers but he says they are giving him an amazing deal to say for another 5 years. I started talking a...

    Flexjet has a new App!!!

"Flexjet launches the most advanced mobile app for fractional owners" "Flexjet has an industry leading disruptive new mobile owner's app" "Flexjet to elevate owner's experience with new app" This is absolutely amazing. Though most owners I know prefer to be "elevated" by having the jet...

NetJets' 2800 Pilots Just Dusted Warren Buffett

So says the article in today's New York Post. "For the pilots, the key to reaching a deal was the changing leadership last year at NetJets Association of Shared Aircraft Pilots Union ...". I guess WB wasn't available for comment because he was at home sulking from this "dusting" and dreaming of...

    NJASAP Ad

Yesterday's ad was quite lame and probably not a good use of mega $$ a 1/2 page in The WSJ costs. I would guess the only people who read it are (1) NJA pilots, (2) NJA (and BH) management, and (3) journalists. If that was the goal than it was quite effective. It was not catchy or informative...

    Bombardier G-200s

It looks like Bombardier now owns (of record) about a dozen former NJA G-200s. The "deal" for the 650s, 350s and Globals must not only have been good on the sales price it looks like they are taking all/most of the old super-mid and larger jets?

    Papillon Helicopter Tours - Arizona

In a few weeks the family and I will be going on a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon area with Papillon Helicopters out of Page, Arizona. They also run tours out of the south rim of AZ and Las Vegas. Any comments on them -- safe?? Thank you.

    LAN Airlines

This may be more a a question for the international pilots. I will need to fly into Ecuador later this year from NYC -- choices are American changing in MIA or LAN non-stop from JFK. Burning my fractional hours for this trip is not an option. Any comments or experiences with LAN? How are its...

    NJA Meteorology

Has NJA cuts its meteorology dept? The day before I was flying recently, I was told if I wanted to speak to meteorology I needed to do so before 10 p.m. This was the first time ever I have ever been given a time parameter. In distinguishing itself from competitors NJA has always stressed...

Question for Skywest and Mesa Dash-8

I recently few on a few Dash-8 flights and noticed that my planes and others at DEN had a piece of the fuselage replaced and riveted on at about the section of the fuselage lining up where the propellers are. I also noticed this on many of the planes at DEN. What was the issue? Thanks.

    Right seat time building?

Just an onservation. My last 7 or 8 NJA flights have all been flown with the right seat "in command". Is this coincidence or is there an effort to build time for the right seat pilots in this tough economy? Fly safe.

    Aerodynamics (ADI) of Michigan

I have recently been invited on a flight on an ADI Airbus 319. What do any of you know about this operator? As you may know form my posts, safety is my highest concern. According to its website, ADI is the top operator of corporate shuttles. Thanks. Fly safe.

    NJ and Cessna??

The following is from a consultant called "the Fractional Insider". Interesting. Firstly, it seems obvious that a bold move will be needed. Netjets income, from monthly and hourly fees, is limited by the thousands of share and card contracts they already have in circulation. Many share owners...

    Any news on the Governorator?

LOS ANGELES (Map, News) - Federal investigators on Saturday were looking into what caused smoke in the cockpit that forced Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's private plane to make an emergency landing. Authorities intend to follow-up with the New Jersey-based private charter company that ferried...

    Bird Strike and Corporate Jets

First -- today's episode shows the importance of well trained and experienced pilots. Now I know little about the mechanics of flying and aero engineering, but do apply some logic. Does the location of the jets on a corporate jet (on the tail section) reduce the chance of a bird strike? I...

    Pilots' Surprise

JANICE Dickinson sure knows how to distract a pilot. The so-called original supermodel was on a recent private NetJets flight from LA to NY when she strolled into the cockpit and flashed the pilot, said a source. "She just went in and did a little shimmy and walked out," said the source. It...

    Yankees and Airplanes (cont'd)

October 14, 2006 -- A corporate jet carrying seven people - including Yankee third baseman Alex Rodriguez - slid off a California runway yesterday, authorities said. No one was hurt. The Gulfstream 3 owned by A-Rod had five passengers and two crew members when it arrived at Bob Hope Airport...
