    Single-pilot jets?

Umm...I started with zero hours of jet time....like I suspect you did at one point. Was I dangerous? There's nothing mystical about flying a jet. - 800 hour jet SIC Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2

    NEVER Mention sequestration in PA?!?

Controllers are forced to take a furlough day once a pay period, or two a month. A friend of mine with Chicago Center says that translates to 30-40 fewer people a day. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2

Southwest's new plan to screw Airtran pilots

 Does that come on a floppy? CD-ROM? Or is that something I download from the App Store? Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2

    Navaid id?

I learn something new everyday. I have a vague recollection os the guys at CAE teaching that it was acceptable method for IDing when I went through Ultra initial a few years ago. If that only covers the DME, I suppose I should ID if I'm flying off the nav radio. Does the DME transmit an ID...

    Navaid id?

Depends on the airplane I'm flying and the purpose of tuning the navaid. Flying the Citation, nav frequencies display the ID on the EMERGENCY when it picks up the station. There is no need for me to verify the morse code separately. If I'm tuning a radio as a backup to the FMS, I generally...

    Turbojet part 135 takeoff numbers

Having flown the V, I remember it is a transport category airplane. An above post referenced normal category airplanes, specifically limiting them to 12,500 lbs. I was saying I'd be surprised if a CJ3 could weigh that little. I was curious, so I looked up the CE525 TCDS. The CJ1 and CJ2 are...

    Turbojet part 135 takeoff numbers

I've never flow the CJ3, but it's similar in size to they Citation V, which had a MTOW of 16,300...well over the 12,500 cited I the normal category reg above. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk

    Favorite/Least Favorite Airport

In lieu of DRO I usually go into 00C, but then again I'm usually not flying anything that's heavier than 4000 lbs out there. Last time I went through I had the pleasure of camping out with several members of the local EAA chapter who were hosting a cook out the next day. They were quite...

    Unemployment benefits and WIA

My case worker seemed upbeat about it. In IL they have to be an approved program. They work with Simuflite, but not Flight Safety. So I'm trying to go through CE-500 upgrade. I have no idea the approval rate though...so we'll see.

    Unemployment benefits and WIA

I'm meeting with a case worker today. I don't know about success rates, but IL will give up to $6000. I'll have a better idea in a few hours.

    Furloughee Looking for Work

I'm there with you...was flying a Citation for a guy that was a private pilot himself. 2300 Total, the last year flying an Ultra out of Lake in the Hills, IL. So far I haven't had too much luck finding anything. The search continues.

    citation 500 question

We fly an Ultra (essentially a V with the Honeywell Primus 1000). Depending on the altitude we'll see 400-425 KTAS. It's not too hard to fly, but they are all designed around a single pilot concept. As noted earlier the 501/551 are single pilot versions of the 500 and 550. However, the...

Best Digital Camera for inflight shots is the....?

What's a lense like that cost? I have a Rebel XT with both the standard 18-55mm and a 75-300mm; neither of which are stabilized. I don't seem to have much trouble except when taking shots of passing airplanes. I don't know what it is, but in either manual or auto focus I can't get a clear...

    Here comes the user fees!

With respect to it being shelved for two or three years, I don't think that's an option. The FAA funding is done in ten year intervals, so if a plan is approved that includes user fees, I think we're stuck for ten years. If the reauthorization does not include user fees, then we have a fight...

    Pilot Shops (Chicago)

It's Windy City Flyers (and now the Chicago Executive Airport). No jepps or chart cases, but the entire country in NOS IFR and VFR Low and High alt. The Pilot Shop at DPA has a much larger selection of general merchandise including flight bags and jepp charts. I doubt they're the most...
