    Cummins

Chief Pilot just retired, his successor hasn't been named yet. I'm assuming they're hiring to fill the vacancy from everyone moving up the ladder.

    CL-30 Speculation?

The schoolhouse said Bombardier will be introducing the CL300NG at EBACE this year. Increased gross weight (as advertised here), more gas, more thrust and the avionics upgrade. The old bag also mentioned the test pilots have flown the plane at 44,000 lb, but it's not public knowledge yet. Be...

    CL300 Operator Input

We always figure 6+45 to 7+00 flight time to our lowest reserves (good VFR, lots of nearby alternates, etc.), our group is good going down to 2,000 lb, but no less. I've heard of other crews going 7 hours+, but they've gotten pretty low on fuel. My balls aren't that big.

    CL300 Operator Input

T-Bone is right on, great airplane and good performer. We plan burns of 2500 1st hour, 1900 2nd hour and 1600 thereafter. If you go to FL450, you'll see 1500 lb/hr. The plane will do FL410 at gross all the time, regardless of ISA conditions. If it's warm (west coast to HI) you'll need to wait...

    Need input from Challenger folks....

We hear all the rumors, the Advisory Committee meetings, and they all have a common theme..... it's coming soon. I really like the airplane and it's a great performer. Fits our mission extremely well. Even if these things aren't coming, I'm okay with that. Just don't tell me they are!!

    Need input from Challenger folks....

Bombardier keeps saying there will be new DCMPs produced soon, but the manufacturer isn't helping the process. This was briefly discussed at the last Advisory Committee Meeting, but there are no updates. Bombardier has been promising new DCMPs for a couple of years, nothing yet, doubt there's...

    Rvsm

I would refer him to your POI at your local FSDO- let them duke it out. There's ten different interpretations of each rule, nothing is standard within the FAA. Pretty ridiculous.

    Rvsm

I believe to operate in Europe, you need recurrent RVSM training? I have no idea, we don't operate over in that part of the world. But you also need recurrent int'l operations training as well. I wouldn't want to face a SAFA check without it either. To operate domistically, there's nothing in...

    Rvsm

Our FSDO says RVSM training is a one time deal. Complete initial and you're good for life, no recurrent required.

    Need input from Challenger folks....

I'd imagine when you're stuck at 37,000-39,000 feet for eight hours in a 605, the cabin is fairly low. I'd take a 7,500' cabin in a CL300 above the weather and the winds any day of the week.

    Need input from Challenger folks....

By our third hour we are down to 1500-1600 pph, so that would buy another 1.5-2.0 of flight time. I would say 700-900 nm at 460 kt TAS.

    Need input from Challenger folks....

Lots of rumors floating around about a 300XR- another 3,000 (+/-) lb of fuel, increased gross weight, dual IRS, additional pack, additional outflow valve, and a plug in the fuselage to extend the cabin. Everything the 300 needs to be a great international airplane. It'll put the 604/605 model...

    When to replace aircraft?

+1. Whenever it's depreciated. They can get a tax advantage on a different airplane.
  14. S

    Ultra, Encore, or CJ3

Between the CJ3 fuel burns and the resale value of the plane down the road, you'll probably be money ahead buying one over an Ultra or Encore. And as you mentioned earlier, you'll be able to take higher dollar amounts in depreciation per year on the CJ3. Even though the Ultra and Encore are...

How about New Orleans to Cancun? Does that require HF use?

    Flight Department Costing

I'd say this is the best advice so far. Instead of twisting budget numbers to make the plane look cheaper, hit it from an exec's effeciency standpoint. Show them what the plane can really do for them- hit multiple locations and still be home for dinner, strategize on the plane while enroute to...

    Flight Department Costing

You are looking for a new way to twist the numbers so you don't appear so expensive, no? You said so in your opening message. The suggestions above are good, because the costs on the spreadsheet will look lower. If your execs multiply it out, the final cost should be the same. You are still...

Buying brand new B-350 - wish list ?

The answer is no, you don't need a backup Part 91. Suggested, recommended, they aren't the same as required. Our FSDO as never asked if we have backup charts to our EFB.

Buying brand new B-350 - wish list ?

A backup required in Part 91 operations? Huh?
