NASCAR Air
Having flown for a Race team since 1998, I think I have a pretty good handel on it. All depends on who you work for. SOme guys who fly for drivers have it great. Some don't. Pay is all over the place, again depending on who you work for. Schedule can be brutal! Your a part 91 guy...
Airbus
I was under the impression the only reason they got the Airbus was so they could get into the Euro market? Rumored that unless they were flying Euro products they would not be locked out of that market. Any truth to that? (wouldn't suprise me if it was true)
Wireless
I got my 1st cell phone about 97 . I was with a company called Powertell. Their national coverage sucked! But they got bought out by someone, who in turn got bought out by T-Moble. The big bonus to me is I am still under my original plan. No Roaming no long distance. I have boosted the...
Well it was a good day. Left a message for her on Friday, was just looking at her name on the sticky note next to the phone when it rang (her ears must have been burning)
She was all good news for us yet to be interviewed types.
Q: Any news on interviewing?
A: Interviews could begin as soon...
Talked to Lindsey
Ok folks, the scoop from Lindsey as of today.
Online apps will be a reality. Those with paperapps in will recieve a letter sometime late December early January telling us to fill out the online apps. we WILL keep our paper app dates.
Classes as always non-comittel...
Type or No?
Ok when I applied in Nov 2001 (I know great time to be looking for a pilot job eh?) SWA had no requirement for a type to recieve an interview. This changed some time around Arpil or May 2002 (help me out here guys) they announced they would not accept applications from non-type...
Interviews
I'll start my own rumor. Based on what I have heard from buds and read here. If they really ramp up training and kick off January with 2 classes a month, guess what? They don't have enough Poolies to fill the year out. So.... I am looking into my crystal ball and saying Interviews...
Interview
I submitted my App 17 Nov 2001 (great time to be looking for an Aviation job wasn't it?) I met all requirements and have kept my paperwork current and give Lindsey a call every couple months to ask questions and let them know I am alive and still desire employment witht he company...
PFT
Not real up on the whole PFT thing.
Basically you go to a flight school and pay to be a right seater and monitor the standby load meter?
This prepares you for captaincy? I took the easy way out, 20 years service to the nation. Free flight school, experience and extended vacation to...
Re: Nothing new to report...sorry
When and if UPS ever begins to hire again. If the open time ban is still in effect, the 1st year pay will become an issue. 26K is not much to live on. I am currently a Corperate pilot. I make more than 26 now. I know from buds who work for UPS, they work and...
Just talked to LL
Well as always a pleasure to talk with the voice from LUV. Anyhow. Here is the Gist....
Maybe a couple more classes this year maybe
About 200 more in the pool (she did say 200)
Thinks they will begin to gear up for interviews again 1st quarter 2004 (this could be anytime...
UPS
It would seem they are playing it hard ball style. The union wants no one to take opentime, Management wants not to hire any more pilots. The fact is UPS is making huge sums of money. (well more than I make in a week and ask my employer how over paied and under worked I am) Even with...
Type rating
As much as I would love to take 2 weeks off from work (a few grand in un-earned income) And jet down to Higher Power (7K and we'll figure about 1500 for expences). So being very conservitave, 10 grand to get interviewed for a 25% chance at a job.
Perhaps some of you can take a...
Corp Flying
Its all about what is important to you. I would love a chance to fly for a major, much better quality of life, however under today's situation, I'm very happy I simply have a flying job! There is nothing worse than being Uncle Daddy, it sucks. Never home, always gone, Telephone...
Easier Job?
Been up at Flight Safety for the last few days recurrent so it was just sitting there smiling at me when I got home.
As to the ease of my job, Not really, Flying Part 91 for a Corp. Long days and longer nights. Thought I was totaly sunk with no type (and I still may be at the back...
No Type
Been on the road for the last 10 days. Got home to a smiling SWA envelope. It has an update letter in it. I am NOT typed. I handcarried my App to the Air Inc job fair in VA in Nov 2001. Hope this info helps. Maybe at thwe bottom of the pile, but at least I'm in it!
