Bad Flight Attendants
Unfortunately, I would have to agree. As a US Airways pilot and veteran I was truly embarrassed by that incident.
I've been in the back of our airplanes to Europe twice this summer and was so appalled at the way our F/A's were treating our customers I took my ID off...
Worst Airplane
I agree. The Jetstream 3200 while I was at Pan Am/Trans World Express. The best were the deHaviland products. The Dash 7, DASH 8, and the Twin Otter!
Your friend needs to bite the bullet and accept the lower pay and get on with a regional. Piedmont and Republic have no-shows for classes now.
Get on with Republic and get an E170/190 type rating provided. Buying a type rating with the exception of a B-737 solely for the purposes of Southwest...
US Airways/Delta
So if she starts INDOC on October 14, she will be finished on the 25.
That would put her in initial ground school probably on the 29 With her SPV on November 7. Depending on whether she goes to the E190 or A-320 she could possibly start simulator on November 11. 5 on and 2...
E190 Pay
The E190 pay rate is not where it should be. Period. The rate right now is about $98.00/hr. Top of Scale. It's $113.00 under the MOU increasing to about $147.00 in 2016, but the MOU is based on the merger and we will have to see how that plays out. If the merger goes through, we will...
I can understand your skepticism but one just finished his training yesterday and more just started training.
It's happening for sure. How long it will last is another thing!
US Airways New Hires
Yes, we just issued E190 Type ratings to new hires this morning while interviews were going on down the hall.
It may be too early to tell long term but 18 month upgrades provide lots of motivation...
Advise
AvJunke,
My advise to you would be to get on with a Regional as soon as you can and get current. Yes, the pay is not great but we all know that the goal is to move on to a major.
You need to get a current and go through a recent airline training program to get current. Also, do...
JetBlue/US Airways
A few years ago tons of US Airways guys ran to JetBlue for "greener pastures". Looks like there not so green anymore. They might even be "blue" I'm sure many of them regret not coming back when they had the chance.
I heard lots of JetBlue F/O's have their apps in to...
acaTerry,
Feel free to stay away with that attitude. I just flew with a guy that was hired in Feb. 2012. He starts upgrade training on the E190 soon.
So he will be a captain with American Airlines this fall.
Could the new hire pay be better? Of course. That's what I made in 1999. Look at...
I flew with an F/O in the E190 that was 26 a few months ago. A few years ago US Airways was not high on the list for career airlines. Now they're beating the door down to get in.
I wonder what has changed?
US Airways Hiring
A lot of people were really beating up on US Airways the last few years.
Now it seems like guys are beating down the door to get in. Gee, I wonder why?
Seriously, good luck to all trying to get hired. I think it's very exciting over here now. I'm flying with a lot of new...
You have to have a four year degree to be hired at US Airways. The filters on the application Web Site will not select you for an interview.
This came directly from a Fleet Captain who selects the candidates for interviews from the Web Site.
