Jet Blue won't necessarily be hurt - they will likely continue to fill airplanes. Perhaps its rate of GROWTH will be reduced - it will still grow and likely continue to do well. However, Delta's market share won't ERODE quite as fast... Southwest has not been hurt on the East Coast by AirTran's...

Does this mean that Freedom pilots are now ALPA members and not referred to as "scabs?" What about the current Freedom CRJ-700 captains - will they get bumped back to FO based on seniority - will senior Mesa pilots be able to bump the Freedom captains down to the 50...
Future Value Future Value Future Value..
Even if those "extra" maintenance costs really did exist, the stock analysts would have ALREADY built those costs into their financial valuation models. Stock analysis is built around FUTURE VALUE. And yet, many stock analysts are bullish and the stock...
I read that AMR currently has $18-19 billion (that's billion with a "b") in debt and only $700 million worth of aircraft to mortgage (access to more cash) remaining... I wouldn't want to be the CFO for AMR - very difficult debt service... It doesn't help that gas prices KEEP RISING... Yikes...
Found this on CBS Marketwatch today (Read Below).
Sounds great for the lucky Jet Blue pilots out there.... Also a pretty good discussion about Southwest in comparison below.

JetBlue soars on upgrade

Socalplt,
You are wrong. I know the upgrade personally. This pilot has considerable hours and just received the offer to go to the left seat of the Brasilia - without any FO time. Sounds like a lot of senior FOs are concerned about busting in this economy...
Skywest just allowed some new hires with a certain number of hours to upgrade directly to Capt on the E120 because there was a lack of pilots wanting to upgrade. I guess the "up or out" policy at Skywest is strict, but it seems like a good deal to me.
Cheers! Yakkety Yak, don't talk back!
I hear E120 upgrades are going to new hires because no one wants to take the chance of the "up or out" policy at Skywest.
As long as you have a certain number of hours, you can qualify. Sounds like a good deal to me.
Cheers! Yakkety Yak--Don't talk back!
There are many reasons why the "insiders" let this slip out. First, this is a sign to the Government to get rid of the extra taxes imposed on the airlines. Next, this signals labor that they want concessions. Maybe you all didn't read the USAToday article that stated that Delta has $2.6...
Check out www.avcrew.com for opportunities - I thought I just saw a posting for a Hawker 700 job in the NY area - - not sure if a type is required...
Good luck
Afellowaviator,
At the end of the day, one fact is undeniable: Delta pilots supported Comair pilots during their ill-fated strike and Comair pilots (at least their MEC) did not reciprocate with support when Delta furloughees were in need.... Instead, Delta furloughees were used as bargaining...
If you prefer mostly West Coast flying (although expanding Eastward), pick Skywest. Morale is probably low at Comair because its MEC burned its bridges with Delta - if you want to fly for Delta one day, pick Skywest... I also heard that a 717 was spotted at St. George, Utah recently - nice to...
Quote from Surplus1: "So our MEC isn't falling on its face and scrambling to accept a bogus offer on which you can't deliver anyway. Thank the Lord it didn't. "
THANK THE LORD IT DIDN'T.... Yeah, thank the Lord Delta pilots won't have to fly with you some day. I wonder if you will have the...
ERJPusher,
Now you know why Delta's MEC is not in favor of granting Comair pilots preferential hiring - ARROGANCE.... In another recent case, a Comair captain refused a Delta pilot a jump seat DESPITE open seats in the back of the RJ - he refused to let him on the aircraft even though he was...
Wiggums,
You TOTALLY miss the point. If you work for Freedom, then you better want to STAY there for the rest of your career. Sure, the CRJ-700/900 is a great airplane to fly - and you would become proficient in it because that is the LAST airplane you will fly. Do you understand? Once you go...
Both choices are excellent. I agree with the seniority argument - getting into Jet Blue now while upgrade times are fast would be a great thing - you could upgrade to Captain faster at Jet Blue. I believe Jet Blue's pay scale will eventually be very similar to Southwest's - so, the money issue...

Looks like they have a large fleet of nice corporate jets including a Global Express and Gulfstreams...
Check it out!
Good luck.
Why would these pilots want to ruin their future airline careers by joining a non-ALPA (scab) airline?
Yes, putting FOOD on the table and paying RENT is important - money could be the absolute driver of the decision... But I am sure they could qualify for other flying positions out there (e.g...
Well, we all know that Freedom is hiring furloughees (I read that US Airways furloughees are there)... I just think that wouldn't be a popular choice - although flying CRJ-700 and 900s wouldn't be bad. Still Freedom is not a good choice - if you go there, don't expect to fly anything else for...
Afellowaviator,
All the Delta guys (selection committee, Chief Pilot, etc.) have to do is put the Comair pilots at the bottom of the continually-growing interview list. Back when hiring at Delta was hot, miliatary pilots seemed to supercede the regional/corporate pilots all of the time. Class...
