    Does Spirit have displacemet rights?

No, There has to be an opening for your seat to get that position. If you are SJU based and want DTW you put DTW on your bid sheet and when a position for your seat in DTW opens you would get that seat.

    Spirit Bidding

3A: say your Aug bid overlaps and your Sept bid is legal but takes you below 13 days off, Sept days would be dropped to return you to 13 (min) and you would be pay protected. 3B: Conflict days are dropped the Co. may assign trips or reserve, only on days affected. Pay protected for line...

    Spirit to offer $9 flights

FLAME If you do a search for Spirit you wil find that yes Spirit did have two MD-80 stall events, however they did not spin and were recovered sucessfully. Spirit is celebrating it's 15th anniversary and has NEVER killed or seriously injured a passenger.

    Spirit Airlines Hiring

Just to set the record straight, Spirit has always hired pilots close to it's crew bases. Just ask those who commute from or have moved from: ACY, EWR, MYR, CLE, MLB Did I miss any. Spirit hired pilots who lived near all these locations when they were crew bases. If you join Spirit be ready to...

    Spirit MD80's @ FLL

Spirit has switched to the fall schedule with reduced frequency in several markets. Flying Airbus' as much as possible. Several of the 80's will be removed from service soon. Sold or returned to lessor's.

    What would you guys do?

The instructor/ Examiner will usually get another CFI to do the recomendation then conduct the checkride. I agree I don't think they can recomend and examine. I did the three hour prep for an examiner that ran a one instructor school (him) and then recomended the students for a flight test...

    Jetblue LF great/Spirit lousy

Enigma is correct, the company management is so focused on getting pay concessions from the pilots (NO) (just say NO!) that they can't see the forrest for the trees. There were no substantial changes in year to year numbers but no growth is bad. Replacement of MD-80's with Airbus' is to be one...

    Spin Recovery in a 152

The only spin restriction I know of is for the 150 HP conversions, As I remember the 152 and later 172 have 30 degrees of flaps for go-around performance. The 40 degree flap A/C have minimal if any climb performance at 40 degrees.

    Leaving Kids/Family while flying

My husband requested that I respond to your post (he is also the owner of this screen name). We think you are getting way too much negative feedback. Although I am not a pilot (my husband is)-I just retired from a 29 year career in the Federal Bureau of Prisons. That too, is a male-dominated...

    Landing gear questions

The "platform" on the MD-80 series is just what you suspected, a mud flap, actually called a spray deflector it deflectes water away from the fuselage and engines thereby preventing ingestion. The DC-9 series could use the spray deflector or chined tires, the MD-80's require the spray deflector.

    Spirit or Miami air?

I admire your insight Gen. Lee but I have heard that Spirit is now preferentially hiring local people. So if you live in FLL they are not going to ship you off to DTW. Unfortunately schedules and domicile are decided by seniority, there are several pilots based in DTW that live in south...
