    Trannys' "capturing" captain seats

I would be very surprised if all the captain slots are not filled with former Air Tran pilots. The only "fence sitters" senior enough to get a slot will be those who have been sitting there since before the acquisition, and I doubt they'll change their mind now.

    Trans States Classes

Might be CQFO part III. This was also done in 1995 when I was hired at Trans States.

What has happened to the Ntsb?

The head of the NTSB (the one always in front of the TV cameras) is bucking for a promotion, Secretary of Transportation.

    1261 days to go!

No, only the geezers fly it like a -200 'cause you can't teach an old dog (i.e. geezer) new tricks...

Dear Ladies... and "Bags of Vaginal Cleansers" of SWA/AAI

You have to know the source to realize this is not weird, but totally normal...

    1261 days to go!

We (SWA) have an FO turning 65 on Friday. Last flight is Thursday. He's flying 92+ hours (not TFP) this month. God help me if I'm flying 92 hours for the month I turn 65. Unfortunately, he's junior to me... :bawling:

    Southwest Domiciles

I believe Gup gave the list for Captains. For FOs, the latest list (November awards) gives the order as follows: DAL MCO HOU MDW BWI LAS PHX OAK

Tips to flying the Boeing 727

After seeing my December award, I must be an idiot... I was always too scared to try that "roll on" method of landing. I just flared until it looked about right and waited. Some were good, some not so bad, and a few were controlled crashes. I must admit it was a pretty cool first jet for me...

    Ball caps when flying

Maybe not quite original. I've flown with several captains who place bobble heads, teddy bears, and other stuff on the glareshield.

    Southwest landing at Miramar?

I bet he requested a flyby... but alas, the pattern was full.

    First A330 in DL colors

Passed two thousand feet below it over the Sierra Nevadas Saturday. We were on converging paths. First thought it was Virgin America (the red on the tail really stands out). Then, as it got closer recognized the Delta colors. Thought it was a 767 until finally seeing that it was a 747.

W2 and Quality of life at Southwest

Is it possible? Yes. Probable? Not likely. You can drop only the trips someone else is willing to pick up. Doesn't happen very much at the junior bases. As for flying out of base while on reserve, yes you can. If you commute to sit reserve and then fly a trip on your days off, you won't have...
