Does anyone have any idea where to find information on aircraft accidents from a long time ago?
The accident I'm looking for information on happened on August 28, 1930 in or around Milwaukee. That's before the time of even the CAA, and I don't know if there was even a formal accident...
The first ace of the Vietnam war, the pilot who shot down the Vietnamese ace Colonel Toon, and the man whose career was loosely brought to the big screen by Jerry Bruckheimer in the movie Top Gun.....has just stepped down from Congress and acknowledged charges of bribery.

What a shame...
Anyone catch the skit about JB 292 on the season premiere of Saturday Night Live just now?
ROFL!!!
"And CNN can now confirm that the passengers are being served blue Terra chips- a last meal of sorts".
LOL! It's about time someone starts poking fun at the idiot network news stations.
Drudge is running a lead on a near-miss on the runway at LAS last Thurday. America West and Air Canada- about 100 feet seperation.
Anyone hear anything, or is this typical media hysteria? I hadn't heard of any serious runway incursions recently.

The key is to slow down enough to fill your tank from the lake, then get as low and as slow as possible when you dump over the fire. Watch out for the d*mned flocks of birds!
Oh, and one other little detail... there will be a CFI quietly sitting next to you logging PIC! Don't have your multiengine yet? Not to worry- he'll get you your multi for FREE.

Yet another CFI flying for free. Just rent him his plane, fly him around Florida...
For those who spent some time at Oshkosh last week, did you see the EAA Special Forces guy who was guarding Burt Rutan, Mike Melville, and SpaceShipOne?
Pasty white twentysomething kid, fat, black clothing head to toe, enough black web gear to support a patrol in Fallujah, and a gun!

The pilot who claimed to have landed a Eurocopter AS350 on the summit of Mt. Everest has now admitted he never made it to the summit, but rather landed on the South Col, 3500' lower.

What a public relations nightmare for Eurocopter and EADS! They were touting this accomplishment on...
Sure, they may not be able to find more than 60% of planted guns and bombs, but at least the head Wand Monkeys can be comfortable while they're overseeing all the incompetence:
From the 4/25 AWST:
The TSA's TSOC headquarters is staffed with 79 federal workers and 57 contract employees, but...
Look at these computer animations made to investigate two 1999 runway incursions. Click_here
The pilot in the Providence incident made the initial mistake, but that tower controller is doing her best to cause an accident, isn't she? I hope she was decertified after this. No SA at all.

Eaglelounge MEL 45-1 added DTG 201823EP
May be used for general venting until primary Eaglelounge is restored to service.
I'll kick it off:
People have been saying someone put anti-flowbie flyers all over the ORD and DFW crew rooms, and the CPs were rushing around taking them down. Anyone...
It's only a contract for 23 aircraft, but our national pride and national identity has taken a hit. POTUS will now soon be flown around in a British/Italian helicopter (which Lockheed Martin will assemble in this country and stick a US flag on the side).

When are we going to come to our senses and bring the TSA under control before they totally destroy the US airline industry? They seemingly don't answer to anyone in the government right now.
Pilot Brian Binnie has taken the SpaceShipOne to somewhere in the vicinity of 360,000', winning the X-Prize and smashing the previous sub-orbital altitude record held by the X-15!
Well done to everyone involved!
This can't be good for the airlines! Most airlines' fuel hedging agreements are expiring now, and with their credit, they can't secure new agreements.
With airlines having to buy fuel on the open market, these fuel prices are going to accelerate the flow of red ink. Get ready for another round...

A screener saw a "pipe with wires inside" on the x-ray, so they evacuated the terminal and called the bomb squad.
The suspicious item turned out to be a microphone.
I'm all for being cautious, but aren't these people being trained at what a real bomb looks like?
