Latest Age 65 BS...Group wants them all back...

I cannot believe that in 5 pages of commentary not one person except for MECH has posted anything factual regarding this issue. Here is the language in the Bill that will address the SPC issue: (2) PROTECTION FOR COMPLIANCE.—An action taken in conformance with this section, taken in...

    United Airlines Pilot Retirement Benefits

Hey...just doing some research on this issue... Can anyone at UAL tell me exactly how your retirement benefits break down? Leaving aside profit sharing, how does your B-Plan work as well as your C-Plan? I'm pretty sure you get a 9% B-Plan contribution regardless but is your C-Plan a variable...

    1st year pay at CAL

Yes, PBS does indeed "suck." No doubt there! And I wasn't a commuter so I bid a lot of day trips that were 6+ hours. That strategy ended up getting me a lot of RX days due to delays which allowed me to then work the system even more. I had a pretty good clue about how the contract worked so...

    1st year pay at CAL

Ex737, not to shoot holes in your argument but as a 6th year Captain in 2005 I made about $85k at XJT. It wouldn't have been much less on 4th year pay...maybe $5k less. Then again, I didn't commute which puts a big impact on how many hours one is willing to fly/credit. -Neal

    1st year pay at CAL

I will double my first year earnings and I am on the 737. You forget that you are being paid MPG for most of your time on first year pay and you are a lineholder for 2nd year pay. Big difference, especially when you are flying well in excess of MPG and you are also flying the productive trips...

    American Eagle Pilots

Can someone tell me if Rob Reilly and/or Andrew McKee are still on the seniority list and if so, where they are based? Feel free to PM me if you don't want to put it up here publicly. They were some of my CFI's way back when and would love to catch up with them! Thanks! -Neal

Living in White Plains @ 75K

As someone who grew up in the HPN area, I would echo the above - move east or northeast to CT. Check out all of the towns within about a 1 hour drive from HPN such as Ridgefield and Stamford. -Neal

    Fighter Pilot Advice

So instead of calling me back you're resurrecting useless worthless threads on FI. Sweet. Now back to your studying boy...and I'm off to Central Park. -Neal

If Age 65 goes forward, how will that affect CAL's hiring or retirements?

flatspin7, XJT's waiting period for medical benefits is 3 months. That was changed from 6 months effective 12/1/04 with the signing of the new contract. -Neal

    Fixed, sorry!

    S. 65 and H.R. 1125 still alive (age 65)

I know you are frustrated. Many pilots are. I'm frustrated by certain things with the politics (congress, etc) but not by my direct interaction on the BRP. Again, the BRP's mission and our actions have nothing to do with this possible change to ALPA policy, etc. My input has been taken...but...

    S. 65 and H.R. 1125 still alive (age 65)

Who did you speak with? If you are uncomfortable posting it in public, PM it to me please. When I said 5 minutes, I meant that each of the 7 of us gave our personal opinions and then we moved on. Are you saying that you spoke with the other 6 people on the BRP and they are all working...

    S. 65 and H.R. 1125 still alive (age 65)

I don't delight in this at all FlopGut as you know my personal opinion on the issue. The limited scope of the Panel is real. We were tasked with a specific mission and we are accomplishing that mission. The policy and politics of the issue are being dealt with well above my pay grade. Do you...

    S. 65 and H.R. 1125 still alive (age 65)

You'd actually be wrong in your bet then. :) But the only time we discussed our personal opinions was in the first 5 minutes of our first meeting. After that we never brought it up again (rightfully so). The BRP is not about the merits of changing the age or not changing the age. That is a...

    S. 65 and H.R. 1125 still alive (age 65)

Oops, my bad. I just looked at the screename...not the info under it. This isn't an issue I would want to bet on....but I will say that S.65 and H.R. 1125 are very real and very much going to be discussed in a week or two when the FAA Re-Authorization bill gets marked up by Congress. -Neal

    S. 65 and H.R. 1125 still alive (age 65)

Not all of the co-sponsors to these 2 bills are Republicans...Senator Joe Lieberman for example. Furthermore, I'm well briefed on the various committees in the House and Senate as well as who chairs them. You would be surprised as to what is going on right now in those various committees. -Neal

    S. 65 and H.R. 1125 still alive (age 65)

That is politics XJTAv8r and from day 1 of our participation on the BRP, the 7 of us agreed to leave the politics to the politicians since the Panel's mission isn't about recommending a change one way or the other...it is just to study the effects of a change (if it were to happen) so that ALPA...

The first phone poll is complete. The survey is on-going until May 10 and once that is complete, another phone poll will be conducted to validate the results of the first poll and the survey. The results will be made public shortly thereafter, just like they were the last time 2 years ago or...

    S. 65 and H.R. 1125 still alive (age 65)

Andy, If you look at the legislative history on this issue dating back a few years, you will find that your analysis above is incorrect. There are several people in Congress on both the House side as well as the Senate side that have made this their pet project for years. Do a little...
