Perhaps a NOTAM might have been useful?

MC-130H landed at the airfield at night and didn't see the construction on the runway... http://www.strategypage.com/gallery/articles/military_photos_200516232.asp http://www.strategypage.com/gallery/articles/military_photos_20051623.asp

Perhaps some NOTAMs would have been useful?

This MC-130 was torn up pretty good when it landed on a runway being repaired...and it ran right through a pretty significant trench in the runway, shearing off the bottom half. http://www.strategypage.com/gallery/articles/military_photos_20051623.asp...

    Sarin Gas found in Iraq

The insurgents attempted to rig an old Iraqi artillery round to explode on the side of a road. The round just happened to be an early version of a nerve agent dispersion round. These older rounds keep the chemicals to make Sarin seperate (to facilitate safer handling), and when it explodes in...

    Sarin Gas found in Iraq

An artillery round that had been rigged as a road-side bomb was found to have contained Sarin, and the artillery shell was a type used by Hussein's army that he declared were all destroyed. Two army ordinance personnel were treated for minor exposure to nerve agent. Here's the story...

Any info on Dyess would be nice

I'm headed to Dyess (317 AG) after I go through LR in the fall. Don't know which squadron I'll be in yet. I've flown to Abilene and Dyess quite a bit in the C-21, but never lived there. Don't know a whole lot about the missions Dyess picks up either. Thanks ahead of time.

Anyone ever own a cabin-class twin?

Hopefully in the near future I'll jump in and buy a single. But ultimately at some point I'd like to own a twin, like a Cessna 414/421 or Piper Navajo. Anybody own one before and have some info on costs, financing, maintenance, use, and perhaps recommend a model to shoot for? Thanx!

    Engine Sync components are racist

This just in from CNN.com: http://www.cnn.com/2003/TECH/ptech/11/26/master.term.reut/index.html Essentially, an worker out in LA filed a complaint with the equal opportunity office stating that he had seen boxes of computer equipment in which components were labeled "master" and "slave". Here...

Anyone have any experience with HC-130s?

I'm getting close to having to submit my PW, and I can't decide what to do beyond Ramstein and AC-130s (my first two picks). I heard they are standing up a new HC-130 squadron at D-M (79th RQS), and that all the rescue Herks are going to be handed to AFSOC. Since I wanted to fly for AFSOC...

    ????? On Airplane Ownership

I just spent part of Tuesday out at the nearby GA airport, looking for a plane to rent closer to home, when I ran into a guy selling his 1946 Cessna 140. It was a pretty nice little airplane....seemed well taken care of (although I'm not an A&P). Anyhow, he said he was going to sell it for...

    Any Combat Talon/Shadow pilots around?

I've got a little less than a year to decide, but after C-21s, I'm leaning towards Combat Talons/Shadows at Mildenhall. Any pointers on how I could land this assignment? Any info about the Talon mission, lifestyle, or Mildenhall itself would be nice too. And does anyone think that a visit to...

    Question about MD80 APU

Does the APU on the MD80 provide bleed air to the cabin air system? Or does it have an electrically powered air conditioner on the ground? Just researching that case where Boeing and Honeywell got sued by some FA's saying that the air provided by the APU was bad. I didn't know that APUs could...
