    Skywest pilots vote yes

You let a lot of leverage go.

    ASA, ACA, American Eagle

Nor does American Eagle. What's with the thread revival?

    weight shift control

Anyone know of a website directory of where one can get weight shift control training?

    Trans States Classes

The ATP rule went into effect on August 1, 2013. Meaning that all TSA FOs on property as of that date, were required to have an ATP/1500 hours. If all the FOs at TSA had the bare minimum of 1500 hours at that time, that's almost 17 months to get the required 1,000 hours of 121 time, assuming...

    Trans States Classes

An ATP, a type rating, and 1,000 hours of 121/135 is not a bare minimum FO. Anyway, if you have a training department that is competent, it will do a good job of helping them get through or holding them back until they are ready. The point is that your seniority should give you the opportunity...

    Trans States Classes

All I'm saying is that it's an artificial company minimum because not everyone has those minimums. For example, at xjt, the only minimums is FAR minimums. If TSA is so cheap that they don't want to pay some supposed insurance premium, than I would definitely be more upset if I was an FO...
  7. Nevets

    Trans States Classes

You are not understanding my point. There is an artificial 3500 hour requirement. Your current FOs who don't have that time but do have their ATP and 1000 hours of 121/135 time are being passed up for upgrade and thus their seniority. But let me ask you this, is the 3500 hours a contractual...

    Trans States Classes

This has nothing to do with what I posted. Ok, so if CQFOs are not being trained to be captains, then they will only fly as FO? That doesn't sound like what I've read. If they will fly as captains, and there are current FOs on your seniority list that meet FAA minimums, then it absolutely...

    Trans States Classes

If I'm misunderstanding what a CQFO is and their purpose, then I'll apologize. But unless these pilots are only sitting in the right seat (FO), then it's circumventing seniority because of a non-faa requirement.
  10. Nevets

    Trans States Classes

We don't self insure for hull loss and loss of life. No one does. Look, what I'm saying is that current FOs are not being upgraded while someone off the street is. All because of some artificial qualification. As for your contract, I stand by what I said. I listed all the items that are...

    Trans States Classes

Then it must speak volumes of the quality of FOs on property. No such insurance requirements at xjt. Why would an insurance company see TSA pilots as more of a risk? Anyway, I'm not sure what you are trying to say on your second paragraph as it relates to artificial upgrade minimums.
  12. Nevets

    Trans States Classes

It's been said that they will need more captains than there are FOs on the seniority list. To me it looks like a way to pay the pilot in the captain seat first year pay rather than the upgraded FO 3+year pay while at the same time being circumvented on the list.
  13. Nevets

    Trans States Classes

That was my only point. Your company is setting artificial minimums when the only one that is mandated by the FAA is 1,000 hours of previous 121/135 time. That's a really good way to piss off FOs that otherwise meet faa minimums to be captain.
  14. Nevets

    Trans States Classes

The only other requirement other than having an ATP is 1,000 in any 121 or 135 operation. If I was an FO at TSA, I would be pissed about these artificial requirements. The only reason they are offering CQFOs is because otherwise they know pilots will not go there. Hopefully the xjt guys don't...

SkyWest, Inc. Confirms Firm Order for Seven E175 Jets for Alaska

No, it's not a subject for another thread. Pay rates alone does not equal total compensation. I don't know why you continue to want to ignore that. Of course work rules, retirement, and insurance adds costs to the mainline carriers! If it wasn't cheaper for the mainline carrier to outsource...

SkyWest, Inc. Confirms Firm Order for Seven E175 Jets for Alaska

We all know it's fact that the reason this flying gets outsourced is because it's done more cheaply at FFD carriers. That's really the crux of my point. If it wasn't true, they wouldn't go to the expense of doing it while risking their brand. And part of why it's cheaply (be necessity since...

SkyWest, Inc. Confirms Firm Order for Seven E175 Jets for Alaska

I didn't make myself clear then. Compensation is not just pay rates or salary/wages or even what's on your W2. On top of work rules and soft time, there is matching funds, b fund, profit sharing, company's share of health care insurance premiums, etc. Again, except for maybe profit sharing...

SkyWest, Inc. Confirms Firm Order for Seven E175 Jets for Alaska

It's not all about pay rates. I don't know why you and other pilots always look at just pay rates. Your airline isn't even at the top of the compensation ladder among regionals and you think it stacks up to Alaska Airlines? See my post above on how it's absurd to simply compare pay rates...

SkyWest, Inc. Confirms Firm Order for Seven E175 Jets for Alaska

What about them? I rather those 175s be operated by Alaska Airline pilots under the terms of their collective bargaining agreement. Those are better compensated jobs at a better company.

SkyWest, Inc. Confirms Firm Order for Seven E175 Jets for Alaska

If the brand airline operates the flight rather than the outsource airline, it would be more better compensated pilot jobs.
