    'Blue cleaning crew

DanielWebster It has nothing to do with hours flown, it's all about an attitude....and obviously yours sucks!

    'Blue cleaning crew

I think it is great to hear that the pilots help out in the back. Obviously Daniel Webster is an idiot. Whatever you pilots do, please DO NOT let the FA's help out when flying the plane!

Why use a firm landing on wet runway

Although it seems if you smack too hard on the runway the frictional force would be high for a second and then when the plane started to rise up again the force would actually be much lower again for a while whether you bounce or not.

    Basic weather question

Got a question that has had me puzzled for a while. Does a cloud always form when the temp of the air reaches just below the dewpoint? For example on the ground the temp is 12 and the dewpoint is 8. Assuming a standard lapse rate of 2 deg C per 1000' your air temp would be 8 at 2000' assuming...

    Lear hits elk at AST

Just heard on the news this morning that a lear on takeoff tagged a elk on the left wing and caught on fire in Astoria, OR. Everyone made it out OK, no word on the elk. There is a herd of elk that frequent the airport. Anyone else have any interesting animal avoidance stories? Fly safe

Instrument Approaches - I love 'em!

An NDB approach shot to perfection is a great thing! Just don't forget to sync your DG with the mag compass. On my instrument checkride I shot a (seemingly) perfect NDB approach including ground speed and time. Only one thing, I forgot to sync the gyro and was about 3/4 mile north of the...

    Cool Airbus stuff

AC, Don't know which product you bought for MSFS but I hear that 767PIC is a good one. I don't know about free downloads but my experience is that the best ones cost some money and are worth it. Phoenix simulation software makes a great Airbus and they are coming out with an even better Dash...

    Cool Airbus stuff

I'm a wannabe heavy metal driver so my only outlet at this time is the MS flight sim. I found these sites on a flight sim forum from some guy. I was hoping these sites could help someone out who really gets to fly the real thing around. Just remeber us little guys in the cessnas as you rip by...

    Cool Airbus stuff

Pretty cool website about the Airbus 319/320/321. I do not know if this stuff is accurate or good for a real bus driver but I thought I'd point it out for those that haven't seen it. http://www.airbusdriver.net Fly safe!

    IFR remarks section

Up here near PDX we use 'mulitple approaches' quite a bit because they will let us shoot a bunch of approaches to different airports on one flight plan.

    Just checking

Prior to sending in your letter you may want to run grammer check. I think it should be "their" mins.

    Spreading ashes

Thanks for the replies, Fortunately this will be over a very rural area in NW Oregon so I don't think they could organize an evacuation anyways! We are probably going to do a test drop with some flour or something to see what happens. Fly safe.

    Spreading ashes

Hello, I have a friend who wants to spread ashes over a piece of property. I would be flying a 172 and I was wondering if anyone can offer any advice to accomplish this task successfully the first time, seeing as we only have one chance. Thanks for the help. Fly safe!

    Turbulence in the clouds

Got a question about turbulence in the clouds vs. not in the clouds. Is the turbulence in a cumulus cloud the same as the turbulence just below the cloud? My thinking is this. The updraft or whatever that created the cloud has to start below where the cloud is forming, the cloud just simply...

    It finally happened

After reading about how it will eventually happen to most pilots, I had a attitude indicator partially fail in IMC. I was skimming along the tops straight and level and glanced down at the AI and it showed a 12 deg. right bank. Luckily it was a broken layer so I could pop out and verify that I...

    What do you do?

I have a question about flying IFR and navaids. Say you are putting along on a victor airway navigating towards a VOR. You are past the COP for the previous VOR on the airway. You are not in radar coverage. The VOR suddenly goes out of service and you loose your nav signal. So you are...

    Changing logbooks?

I was wondering if it looks bad to the airlines or 135 operators if you change logbooks before filling it up with entries? I have a logbook that I got before I knew I was going to go after a career in aviation and it doesn't have enough columns to fill in different types of time. Thanks. Fly...
