Ill take lift over drag any day
looks like the last poster erased any misconceptions about what you can expect at SDFTI.
1: Management and owners are evil
2: Instructors impression is that students don't put forth any effort
3: Students get fed up over exhorbitant prices and molassass...
During my first stage check for my private I flawlessly executed each manuever the check airman requested. **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED** I thought, this is a cake walk.
" Okay Captain" he says, "take me home."
hmm lets see, its the east coast of Florida..flat, undeveloped...
more ramblings
Oh yeah I forgot. Not to discourage you but 250 hour CFI's are about as rare as retractable 152's. 250TT CFI who have the ability to instill confidence in a student are as rare as turbo 152's.
every hour of flight is another lesson you can bring to the able.
You'll know when you getthere
You shouldn't begin to think that you could feel confident teaching at this point. There are many more hours to fly before you sleep and after two inadvertent spins Im sure you're instructor lies awake at night wondering what he did wrong.

What about SIC program?
Any chances they'll ever bring back the SIC program? Im sitting on about 600 hours, 200 as CFI. Love teaching but not so happy about dealing with the $10/hr underbidders. Ready to hump frieght!
Im seriously thinking of becoming a plumber...good money and no down turns in the market!! MAybe make enough to buy a 172 and actually get to fly. Read the NYTIMES article 5/27 on pilot training, looking scary particularily for a new CFI with about 30 dual given.
I attended PAIFA in Vero Beach when they were building the Pt Pierce facility. The training was excellent but management was lacking. I have followed some posts about whats happening there these days and this is what Ive gleaned.... to get looked at to get hired you gotta have the hours and...
We eat our own
I remember when PAIFA took over my school in Vero Beach afew years ago..one instructor made an innocuous comment about something on the uniforms during a CFI meeting and they fired him on the spot!
I know that there are military flight docs who are authorized to give the FAA medical..did anyone do this? Do they charge ? Is it just easier to head down to the civillian flight doc? Im a civillian CFI asking for some helo guys that want to log some time in our little spam cans!! Thanks
