Hi everybody,
I just spoke with one of the Chief Pilots today, and he said that the present plan for 2002 hiring is 420 pilots. That's a lot better than some of the numbers that have been floating around! It sure looks like a lot more classes are on the roster now, which is outstanding news...
Hi everybody!
Thanks for the intel on the baby issue-We really appreciate it. "Pilot's Wife": Thank you so much for the offer of help with the babysitter! It is very kind of you! We are still debating whether or not to bring the baby. She is less than a month old and I also have concerns...
Hi vx9.tc,
I have a question about the the Spouse/Companion days. I have a new born infant who (of course) constantly is in need of her Mom. I would really like my spouse to go, but I'm not sure if it would be advisable to have a baby there. Did anyone from your class have babies along? Is...
Hello everyone,
Congrats to you all! I too, got the call from Jennifer saying that I was likely to be in the February 14 class! I am to expect a call from a Chief Pilot late this week or early next week also.
To save you the trouble, here are my stats:

Hi everyone,
I just spoke with Jennifer today and I was told to expect a class date of February 14. She said that chief pilots would be making calls late this week and early next week! It looks like things are really starting to move at SWA!!!

Orion,
Jakeair is reinforcing my point as well. I am not going to compare everybody's sacrifices to get where they are...that would be counterproductive at best. Allow me to clarify my point: Virtually no one just walks in to a major airline job (especially these days). We all have worked...
Hi SiouxFlyer,
Congrats on the SWA interview!
I went to K&S aviation in Tempe, AZ. I did a lot of home study (as recommended) beforehand, but it was a very pleasant training experience. Their instructors were excellent, preparing us each step of the way. Most of their instructors are SWA...
Hi OrionDriver,
The airline industry is a fairly volitile place (with very few exceptions like SWA). Most of the people on this site (myself included) have at some point in their career, been furloughed or layed off from a flying job. That's just the way it goes at most other airlines. There...
Hi folks,
The tour was really enjoyable as far as I was concerned...SWA really is a truly cool company! It is not something to be paranoid about, but it is a good opportunity to learn about the company. I do think it gives you a chance to chat with a chief pilot and show interest. Chances...
Hi folks!
I went to K&S for my type and was very impressed with their operation, both in the sim and in ground school. When I went (and I think it's still this way), they taught -200 systems and the oral was based on that. Then, we got to spend a day in ground school doing -300 differences...
Hi Mense,
The interview for SWA was very friendly and pleasant. The whole thing takes about half a day, and includes three individual interviews and a logbook check. No sim evaluation in conducted. The interviews are usually conducted by two pilots and one People Department rep. The...
Hi SWA/FO,
I entered the pool on 11/8/01. I heard a rumor from a few different people that SWA was only planning to hire to match attrition for next year. Are you hearing plans of expansion and aircraft aquisition? I was thinking it might take 6 months to a year to get a class date being so...
