    Funny SWA Kernal Clip

We have 7 domiciles and 1 squadron. My personal best line to shut down the Zoo -Best of the best rhetoric; "Kernal, my last airplane weighed more than your entire squadron put together" They hate that.

    Age 67?

I never wanted to fly past 60, but I'm going to have to, to make up the difference in my 401k caused by the current gummers. Maybe if the current gummers ever retire, and I get to upgrade, I can show my FO's pictures of all my Corvettes, just like they like to show us future gummers now...

    SWAPA Comments about 717

Only if Delta were buying them, but they aren't. They're sub-leasing them from SWA.

    SWA Side Letter.

Not sure I'd agree the price was right when we bought AT, especially considering we're giving away 2/3 of their airplanes. But I think you and Red are right, something else is coming. I just hope it's something like airframes or delivery slots from AA instead of an entire airline.

    Southwest 300 / 500 question

Other important stuff: The bag storage area under the jumpseat in the 700's has a flat floor, so you can just lay your bag flat and roll it in. The classics have a screw sticking up, so you need to lift the forward(towards the nose) edge of the bag to get it past the screw. Also the classics...

    Kelly: SWA costs too high

Let's not forget the married retirement plan F/A's, the commited partner health insurance and the cartels/computerized insta-bid tournament players flying 85hrs but getting paid 200+ TFP every month.

    SWA retirements

And the 4 digit guys will tell us how age 70 is really a good deal for us in the long run, just like age 65 was.

    Swa hiring 140 pilots

Only by dinosaur legacy, lazy pilot standards.

    Swa hiring 140 pilots

Our airline doesn't award Premium flying until they've flown all the reserves. Or are you actually suggesting that we adopt a legacy style staffing formula, and pay guys to sit around and fly 20 or 30 hours a month?

    Swa hiring 140 pilots

If you're around 50% in your seat you can easily pick up POT in most bases. If you can hold a Tuesday-Wed-Th line and wait for the weekend POT flood, it's nearly impossible to be under 120 or 130 a month. I looked back and so far I've only had 2 months under 120 this year, and I'm not all that...

Gotta love that SWA culture.....SWA considers stand alone Airtran, if.......

It was never a merger, it is an acquisition. The whole "merger of equals" was a fallacy perpetuated by ALPA. Look how that turned out for the average AT guy.

    Southwest Newhire questions..

A lot will depend on how many are hired behind you, and what the Trannies wind up bidding. (Seems like most of them will bid East coast bases though) It took me 10 months to hold DAL, but that was back when we were hiring a lot. What I did was bid the bases with the fewest commuters, thus best...

    AAI ALPA no campaign?

It'll pass both sides. All that's needed is 51%, and that's almost certainly gonna happen. Time to move on.

    Will SL-10 pass?

Most of our FO's below the mid 80,000 level vote no. Mid seniority FO's evenly split, Senior FO's/Lance's 70/30 in favor of. 70% of Capt's vote yes. SL10 passes by a comfortable margin.

Looks like GK wants to keep AT's ATL, but change schedule a bit

You're not really going to try to compare your hotels to SWA's are you?

Looks like GK wants to keep AT's ATL, but change schedule a bit

I had a Fed on the j/s the other day, and we actually got to talking about A/T and VNAV. He told us a story about how he was on a Delta j/s several years ago, and the A/T's were MEL'd. The PF (he didn't say which one it was) did such a poor job on the airspeed control that the Fed actually...

    Pre Acquisition Applicants

The ones with applications on file actually WANT to work here. "Cool, I'm gonna work for SWA." as opposed to "Cool, I'm gonna get a big pay raise." I know I know, it's not about the money.....
