Just thought I'd post some info I got from UPS pilot HR today; it may all be old news to this forum, so please excuse it if so. I can at least assure you it's accurate.
Pilots Hired 2004-2006: 445
Next Class: January ~15: 18 MD-11 F/O (10 to ANC, 8 to SDF)
I asked what the hiring forecast was...
This may be somewhere in this neverending thread, but I didn't see it:
The jumpseat is ultimately controlled by the PIC, not because of company policy or contract language, but because of FAR 121.547:
§ 121.547 Admission to flight deck.
(a) No person may admit any person to the flight...
Talked to Paige last week, and to summarize:
- One class in Oct, maybe 2.
- After that, no more classes till the new year.
- That will leave the hiring for the year ~30-40 shy of the 300 target, - so that will be completed in January and beyond.
- She added that hopefully by Jan, the '06...
Management pilot openings are advertised separately on the upsjobs website. I'm not sure exactly what the positions are called: something like Flight Supervisor. I do know they are recruiting for those positions and say they are looking to hire about 25 management pilots.
Obviously, there...
Well, this is probably bad news for some but hopefully good news for the poolies. Direct from UPS HR, interviewing is slowing down to virtually nil. The reason for this is that approximately 230 have been hired this year, and there are between 60-70 in the pool. It was implied that the plan...
Wow! Who knew trying to pass along a briefcase would stimulate so much conversation. It may be a silly game, but a lot of us like to look the part for the interview. I looked far and wide for a used briefcase before my interview, but couldn't find one. So, I figured someone else might like...
Black leather expandable briefcase/attache with "gold" fixtures (locks, etc). Purchased two months ago and is still in original packaging. Used for one interview, and it's batting 1.000 :D .
I paid $63 and will sell for $50 which includes shipping.
Please PM me if interested.

I got the call this morning, and it's a class of 9 total, all A300 FO. Needless to say, I'm very excited and feel really blessed for the opportunity.
Good luck to everyone else still waiting.
OK
UPS Background Checks
Just thought I'd throw something out for any poolies following this thread.
I got the call for my contingent offer (basically to schedule the physical) last week. During that call it was emphasized to me that the offer was contingent and "this is not the time to give...
Don't know what you were told, but at my interview "pre-brief", Linda Rich in HR told me that if I hadn't heard anything by the 4 week mark, to call and see what was up. I really don't think anyone there minds a phone call with a polite question.
Hope you hear some good news soon!
I was told I was being slated for a class that would be "either late August or early September: just waiting for the word from training." I took that to mean the class after the Aug 18th one may or may not be in August. I'll definitely pass along more if/when I hear it.
Thanks for the kind words, and I will definitely post more info when I find out the stats of the class (as long as I'm not the first to fail the physical).
OK
Well, I've been looking here on the site for news regarding UPS pool activity, but the news came in the form of a phone call this morning. I got the contingent offer for a class sometime around the end of August or early September (TBD). I interviewed mid-June, & got my pool letter less than 2...
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but during my interview at UPS, one of the interviewers confirmed that virtually no one gets an interview without having an internal recommendation.
As you would expect, having a referral from someone you've flown with is probably best, but any referral is...
