Silver Airways now offering newhires $12,000 signing bonus - the desperation shows

I think I read somewhere that their 1st yr pay is $16K. Add $6K/yr to that and it brings it up to 22K/yr; lower than most regionals. No one should accept that. Given you can only fly 1000 hrs/yr max (and never do) that's $22/hr or less. Since duty time is at least double flight time...

    Taking the boss to Barbados...

Nothing out of the ordinary .... except have enough gas to go to an alternate (regardless of wx). There's only one rwy and lots of things can close it for awhile.

    Is Mesa cat II certified?

Since it is certified under Part 25 the answer is yes, I do consider the Brasilia to be a real airliner. If you operated it into KTEX then I can only assume that your company had the necessary performance data and provided you with proper runway analysis. If that allowed you to operate "full"...

    Is Mesa cat II certified?

If I'm not mistaken KTEX is Telluride. This is a high elevation (9K ft) general aviation airport which I think is served by a company called Great Lakes operating the Beech 1900, which isn't even an airliner. I could be wrong but I don't think any real airliner can even go to that airport...

SWA Plans Adding 25 International Flights from FLL

You sir are a wise man and blessed! BTW, I like SWA and hope you continue to be successful wherever you go and whereever you choose to do it from. The Deltoids, et al, are just jealous of your success. And, I was just pulling your chain (or trying to).

SWA Plans Adding 25 International Flights from FLL

While all of what you say there is probably true. But, I'm sitting here wondering why anyone from the Caribbean or South America would possibly want to go to HOU or IAH on ANY airline. People don't go to airports they go from places to other places. Why would anyone from the Caribbean or SA...

Did you omit SXM by accident or have they dropped it?

US DOJ Suing to Block Meger of AMR and US Airways

Don't be so quick to jump to conclusions .... I smell the hand of Atlanta and they ain't Democrats and they don't eat pizza; try champagne and caviar.

    The end of Comair

You remind me of Sgt Schultz from the old TV series Hogan's Heroes - "I [you] know nothing!"

    The end of Comair

Through the portals of Comair have passed a great many of the finest airmen in the world, bar none. It was a great privilege for me to have known and worked with so many of you; a highlight of my very long career that I will always remember with great pride and a broad smile. To those of...

    FAA Administrator charged with DUI

Politics will not permit a second chance. We've lost a really good man.

Airlines say pilot fatigue rule would cost jobs

The solution is really simple. There are two problems here; 1) There are too many regulations governing the airlines and, 2) There are too many labor unions interfering with management. So, all you "conservative" pilots need to go out next November and elect some more Republicans. They will...

    Comair Shrinking More And Faster?

Nope, never wondered why; always knew why. It is pleasant to wonder. I do it all the time. Enjoy. ;)

    Comair Shrinking More And Faster?

I wouldn't bet the farm on Emiratees been marginalized for too long, at least not in the USA. Just as soon as the Republicans are back in power I have a feeling you'll be seeing a lot of those 380's "coming to a town near you."
  16. S

    Comair Shrinking More And Faster?

And just how would YOU know what Comair pilots wanted or didn't want? No real Comair pilot would give you the time of day, let alone tell you what they wanted or didn't want. I know you think that your "place" in aviation is exalted above others [you've never failed to let us know] but that...

    Comair Shrinking More And Faster?

Yes, the strike did cost Delta a hunk of money but they were the cause of the strike in the first instance. They just thought that scum like Comair would never dare to strike the almighty Delta. Their "real" pilots never did, so why would they expect different from a collection of riff-raff...

    Comair Shrinking More And Faster?

You know what they say about opinions ...... everybody has one and mine isn't the same as yours. IMO, Delta's acquisition was the worse thing that ever happened to Comair; from A to Z. I'm happy to remain among the foolish who don't think like you.

    Comair Shrinking More And Faster?

I remember back in 2000 when many were cheering the fact that Delta had acquired Comair. In fact that was the day that Comair caught terminal cancer. Delta Air Lines has consistently and deliberately destroyed Comair step by step from the day after they bought it. They just enjoy doing in...

DAL and its employees being anti-union is holding up FAA funding bill

OK, fair enough. If that is the case why don't Delta's pilots just leave their union - not for another - and go non union? Maybe you all would like to cut your pay another 30% since you say D employees are anti-union. Like you say, it's your choice, so why not make it? The logic of my process...
