The downgrade, pay cut, higher dental and medical costs, pay for parking, pay for your SIDA badge, pay for your dog to non rev, awful buddy passes, less retirement, less flexibility with your schedule??but they DO have profit-sharing. However, SWA better have a lot of cool aid for me in Dallas...
Well, ValuJet was supposed to be the launch customer but we all know the story and AirTran was the first customer to take delivery in the fall of 1999 with 117 seats. A great airplane, I've flown it for a couple of years before swiching to the 737. Except for the wing and the engine, I found...
C'mon, coach got someone with my limited flying skills through our DC-9 type training. That ought to count for something. Remember, you're a part of the TEAM! You want to be that, DON'T YOU!
From an AirTran point of view I would much rather compete with Southwest in Chicago than Delta in Atlanta. Southwest is a predictable airline that won't do anything besides what is rational and business sound, where as Delta can do the dumbest things just to f*** with us. BTW, did anyone just...
Hehe, F9 Driver, I like your avatar. I'm sure it was not Gods willing that AA slid of the RWY just as I'm sure he didn't save the people onboard. Just another unfortunate event, could have happened to any of us.

Finally somebody hit the nail on the head. We are not gonna pay $90M for the privilege to punch an 800 pound gorilla in the nose. I think AirTran will expand into markets not served by SWA or in underserved markets (by LCCs). SWA has always been a smart competitor and is not gonna get...
Dude, trust me. There is plenty more "glamour" driving the limo than driving the bus. I don't see any "glamour" in what I'm doing but I enjoy it. It's a fun job but I wouldn't recomend it as a career to my children. (I would hang pictures of teeth on their walls...:-)
I feel bad for the pilots and people at US Airways, ATA or any troubled airline. We as pilots are the ones that get to share the heaviest load for poor management descisions. However our industry is now going through the change that was intended 25 years ago during deregulation. A lot of...
One aspect of the interviewing process that many of our fellow aviators are missing is the purpose of the interview. The interviewers want to know that you can prepare for a task. The actual answers are secondary. If you are bright enough to know that you have to study, just like for basic...
OakRBust,
I think you are right on. Too much money and everybody eles working at SWA want their share of the pie and you got yourself a new US Airways. Anyway, I'm sure you SWA guys know that and we will be right behind y'all.

Hey Sleepy,
Going to the jobfair will probably be your best chans to land a interview at AirTran unless you know some people on the inside to write you some recommendations. We are not interviewing right now but this is your chans to show yourself looking sharp. Your totaltime is just right...
Thx for those kind words F18-FDX. And you are absolutly right about commuting on us to MEM. We take as many jumpseaters as we have open seats and most AirTran pilots would gladly take a seat in the cockpit or on the F/A jumpseat to give you a seat in the cabin. I used to jumpseat on FDX alot...
Just to let you know what I think about our company. I have a conditional job offer from SWA (pending type) that I decided to turn down. SWA is a great company but so is AirTran and with the upcoming upgrade and payscale, it makes a better choice for me. Good luck guys!!!
This is just my personal opinion but after working at AirTran for one year I must say I'm very happy to be here. I think this company has a great future under present management. Joe Leonard and his team know what they are doing and with our new contract, noone can complain about the pay with...
