Why are some airports, KSNA for example, while others have no "K" prefix?
E.g. KAJO is Corona Airport, which has no tower, but has a "K" but 3o8 is Harris Ranch, and has no "K"
So what is the difference and how can you tell whether the airport ID should have the "K" or not?
Thanks in adv.
I realize PFT is a huge can of worms, but in a discussion with some other pilots, I became curious if there is or has ever been a PFT program that used larger equipment like 737s, 757s, etc.
I don't need to hear anyone's opinion on PFT or opinion of me for asking the question, etc. Yes, I know...
I'm looking for a friend of mine that I've lost touch with in the past 12-16 months. The last time I talked to him he was a 744 FO and is high enough in seniorty I'm 100% sure he hasn't been furloughed. The last email I got from him was about him flying troops to Iraq.
If someone at UAL would...
Continuing the previous thread, I've got a scenario for everyone to consider:
A guy owns his own plane and splits the flight time (under the hood/safety pilot) with others to build time to go get a Part 121/135 job.
His logbook totals look like this .. 1000 TT / 700 ME PIC / 375 instrument...
A friend of mine isn't sure if he is instrument rated multi or just multi VFR. Here is what his FAA entry says:
Certificate: COMMERCIAL PILOT
Rating(s):
COMMERCIAL PILOT
AIRPLANE SINGLE ENGINE LAND
INSTRUMENT AIRPLANE
PRIVATE PRIVILEGES
AIRPLANE MULTIENGINE...

(737-700/800/900 only)
They want 1000hrs PIC on type. I haven't looked at any of the application but in the past they've wanted anywhere from $250-$700 as an application fee.
I believe the pay is competitive by int'l standards and for India...
I'm curious how much people would pay to convert their paper logbooks to electronic (i.e. entered into Excel).
How much and for what kind of logbook? Like $500 for 1 Jepps Pro Pilot Logbook filled? etc.

Situation: Lets say I own a light twin.
Now, the FARs clearly state, that people riding with me (either as pax, or splitting flight time) can legally only pay direct expenses related to that flight (fuel, oil and parking). *OBVIOUSLY* it would be a dream come true if those were the only...
I'm about to go for my multi-Comm-IFR checkride.
I have a 1st class medical issued on 07/21/2001. It retains the privledges of a 3rd class medical until 07/31/2004 (I'm under 40).
I know you need a 2nd class privledges to perform as a commercial pilot. From what I understand, my 3rd...
I was looking at the Low Alt Enroute Chart, L-19 and there is a route that cuts across the Gulf of Mexico. It is Q100 but its not a Victor Airway and the legend on the chart doesn't tell me what it is .. any idea?
I'm planning on ferrying a Twin Comanche back with a very experienced pilot and...
So I may be the new owner or part-owner of a light twin.
What are some things I can and cannot do to cut costs?
I hear so much contradictory information so I'm looking for ideas.
I know I can't put an ad out offering to fly people around for the cost of their seat. I can however charge...
I just found out that All ATPs has a 14 day CFI/CFII/MEI program but students take their MEI checkride first, then CFII then CFI.
I was told it is MUCH easier that way. How does that work? Can someone explain this briefly?
I've seen a lot of posts about the ATP, Multi, Pro Pilot courses at All ATPs .. how about the 14 day CFI/CFII/MEI?
I've been working on my CFI for 6 months now and am just curious how such a difficult checkride, the initial CFI, is accomplished in such a short time, along with the CFII and...
While looking for a plane to buy I ran across a plane yesterday that has only been flown 10 hours in the past 3 years. Yes, sad but true, only TEN hours in the past 3 years.
What does that do to engine life and to the engine? Its a twin with about 1125 hours SMOH per side.
Looking for insights...
I recently was told by the President of a bank that does aircraft loans that they don't loan money for twins any longer because the "twin market has collapsed."
Since I haven't been shopping for an airpline for long, I'm curious to find out why the twin market has collapsed? If it has...
I am looking to rent a Twin Comanche and receive dual instruction in it in the California area but I am willing to travel.
Any recommendations would be appreciated.
