I would suggest talking to your dx manager about letting her visit the office and see how the job goes.
It can be the easiest job in the world as long as the weather is fine and you don't have any mx issues. But then you earn your money.
I think the Dispatcher Training departments should be in charge of this, and there should be some training purpose involved and not just getting in the 5 hours because the reg says you have to. For example, when I was at Continental MIcronesia, my first cockpit observation was the island hopper...
Basically what it means is a PIC with less than 100 hours in the airplane can not add the 100 foot ceiling and 1/2 mile visibility to anything less than a standard CAT 1 approach, 200 feet and 1/2 mile, even if your Ops Specs allow CAT 2 or CAT 3 approaches or lower than standard RVR approaches...
Hi All,
my airline is looking for a manpower/crew planning solution other than an excel spreadsheet.
Is the system user friendly? any cost information?
I have requested information from them but would appreciate info from an end user.
Thanks,
Brian
I did that Hawaiian Airlines schedule for several years at Continental Micronesia. The last two years I was there I traded my AM shifts for another guy's graveyards, so I only worked swings and graveyards unless I was on overtime. That made for a much nicer sleep schedule, I would pretty much...
Good morning, all. One of my co-workers is doing a Term Paper towards his Master's Degree in Safety and Systems Management.
I am familiar with a few different patterns: 4 on 4 off no rotation (maybe quarterly or semi-annually), two AM shifts followed by two PM Shifts and off two days or...
Any Endeavor people out there?
I see there is a Dispatch Shift Manager position open. Will they hire from outside for that? If so, I would appreciate an idea of what they would be paying.
Please send a PM if you don't want to make the information public.
Thanks,
Brian
Houston would have been my bet for the combined UAL as well due to the tax climate, but Illinois and Chicago offered the company significant incentives to have the joint HQ in Illinois. Never mind all the employees who now face a higher cost of living for housing and taxes in Illinois. Of...
What are your current operations? Part 91, 91k, 121, 125 or 135? How many aircraft? Domestic or International operations?
If you aren't doing Part 121 Ops, Universal Weather flight planning will be much less expensive than JetPlan. If it is Part 121, I would also look at navtech.aero.
Gentlemen,
a friend of mine has also been invited to test on Monday. he told me he had applied in January. Anyway, I would appreciate any specific gouge to pass on to my friend by PM.
I have offered the basic 121 prep - 123 rule, weather maps, fuel requirements and so forth, but he has not...
Ops Spec A003 should tell you the operations that your airline can perform. If they are authorized for both scheduled and supplemental operations, it should be laid out there. If you are just working the supplemental flights and none of the dispatchers on the scheduled side work the...
