Holding out for a better dispatching job?

I know this is an old thread, but thought I'd add something for the newly certificated people. Don't overlook corporate dispatching. A surprising number of large corporations have internal dispatch and entire aviation units. I got a job 2 months after being certified as a dispatcher for one of...

    FAA Guidelines for dispatchers

Sounds about right. I don't work for the airline, but they are both supplemental and scheduled operations. I work for the company chartering the flights. I'm sure I'll get well and fully acquainted with it all, since I've been temporarily re-tasked with helping the head of the aviation unit...

    FAA Guidelines for dispatchers

Yeah, and I'm honestly not sure how the air carriers that bring the workers out there are certificated in this case. They are a part 121 carrier, but for this they operating charter flights under a contract that is outside of their normal scheduled flights.

    FAA Guidelines for dispatchers

Ok, let's see if I can put this simply: I got hired by a company that runs workers to a remote site via helo. The schedule is grueling. 2 weeks on, 12 hours/day for 14 days straight. At this point, it's just helicopters, but they are building a runway that will be able to land large cargo and...

    Job Openings

Thanks! After getting a couple of low-ball offers, I'm very excited about this. Being able to have 2 full weeks off at a time is a huge plus, too. Course, that means I'll be putting in long hours the other 2 weeks, but lots of OT at $40+/hr adds up fast. Actually end up working more OT than...

NM. A month and about 10 interviews later I got a sweet corporate gig. 2-on/2-off, starting at about $68,000. Gotta love oil company money....

    Virgin America

Honestly don't remember exactly what it was. It wasn't dispatch or scheduler, but thought it could be a foot in the door. It was in Seattle. I'll look again when I get more time. Thanks for the reply!

Anyone work for them? They are hiring in my area (though not for dispatchers, but maybe a foot in the door). I know nothing about them as an employer. Just looking for thoughts/opinions. Thanks.

SkyWest--Anyone know how to get ahold of HR or personnel?

Alright, sounds good. They are supposed to start contacting people this week, so I guess I'll find out one way or another about the interview.

SkyWest--Anyone know how to get ahold of HR or personnel?

I applied at SkyWest and want to add a letter of reference to my application package, but there appears to be no way to get ahold of anyone other than the receptionist, who is a wall of secrecy and won't give out any information or even connect me to someone who could help me. I find the whole...

    Job Openings

Any new fresh leads for someone that just got their certificate? I applied at SkyWest, but they are tight-lipped. Pinnacle was hiring 35 and moving to Minneapolis, so I applied but haven't heard back. Trying to avoid East Coast for my wife....something in the NW would be great, but I'll take...
