Huggy,
Haven't been on this board in a LONG time...just started A300/310 training today. Congrats on the big 2k mark!! Aren't you done soon? :)

Mistakes happen. There have been plenty of inadvertent gear up accidents in single or crew aircraft, military or civilian.
I am most definitely NOT saying that's what happened here. Until the safety report comes out, I'm not making any conclusions.
It's been a VERY long time (almost a...
Jeez, that's why none of them fly straight!
"Whatta mean the AOA and airspeed mismatch by 10+ knots...on every jet?"
Now I know who to blame...:).

PS Though it's already been said, when we 'blow' out the system, it gets really, REALLY hot. It doesn't surprise me that the guy (IP)...
Mistaken identity? How about grabbing the wrong luggage?
Why does just about every pilot not only have the same type of bag, but in black? I've personally now seen 4 incidents where halfway out to the aircraft on the crew bus, the guy realizes he's grabbed the wrong bag because it virtually...
I'd be up for it! My wife is from Vancouver, BC so it'd be a great excuse for her to visit her friends and relatives. I couldn't fly in, but jumpseating would be pretty easy.

I can vouch for the durability aspect here at FedEx. Talking to the chief of the engineering shop at FedEx (not MX, I'm talking about the guys that come up and approve with ERs as needed, integrate new systems, basically write the MX manual) was interesting. Cargo aircraft have 'beams' that...
We finally are getting rid of them (leases are up). Though they were the best flying DC-10s in the fleet from what most guys said.
I don't know...if they were cars and looked like that, they would be in someone's front yard with grass growing through the hood...

Yea. I was one of those generic guys that couldn't keep a callsign for my first 5 years of my flying career...then got one that I haven't been able to shake for the last 10 years.
And of course, the WORST thing you can do is try to show that you don't like your given callsign...cause then...
Haven't met too many famous people in either job, but a few:
Father of Janine (sp?) Turner from Northern Exposure...he was an instructor in my 737 type class.
John Young (NASA astronaut and commander of space shuttle flight number 1) in 2000 at Williams Gateway Airport, AZ while on a gas and...
Talked to the guy who gave the SIB brief today. The info I briefed before was essentially correct. The rocket motor (the fuel itself) is inside a metal tube that does deflect as the seat is lowered. However, the fuel is old and has started separating from the tube. So instead of the fuel burning...
Truncated for space.
Yea, it seemed kind of strange the way it was explained to me. One of our pilots was on the SIB and briefed the squadron...which I wasn't present for, so I had to hear it secondhand. So I may have screwed up the details.
The essential things I got out of the brief was...
Couple of things from the T-38 loss:
A bird did go through the top part of the front seaters canopy. The front seater lowered his seat all the way down.
It was found that this causes problems the lower the seat is. The rocket in the seat is inside a flex tube. The tube bends into a sort...
This little bit of info let me start UPT at LAFB about 2 months early! Was glad I did too!
Definitely use Fri and Sat to blow off steam. Nothing helps studying more than just taking a real break!
Enjoy the hell out of the lake. When I was an instructor there (after going through PIT...
Condensed to save bandwidth.
Very interesting post, and maybe makes a point about getting to the root of the problem. The question is, how do you make a culture change? How do you change the attitudes and minds of people on both sides of this issue? What if in a social group, different...
