Need help from all you wonderful Pilots

Not sure if you've flown yet, and I responded to your post earlier with my two cents. At the time, didnt think to ask for something in return. Please let us all know how it went. Hope the advice from all helped!

Need help from all you wonderful Pilots

"I wish I knew a pilot that I could talk to. This would be a super help!" Your wish is my command. When you check in, politely ask to preboard, and if asked why, mention your fear/concerns to the gate agent, and that you would like to say hello to the captain. When you get onboard, ask if you...

    JetBlue Question

How to lose a blue dart I've got two friends that I would have thrown the dart for, should my name have been drawn. Neither one of them can get their act together to fill out the free, online application. "So you want to work here, but only if I make it real easy for you..." Can I sell my...

Info on EFIS-85 and UNS1K anyone?

Call Universal in Tucson, AZ (520 area code and 800#). Carol Jett can get the CD rom on it's way to you, and also can tell you about pricing on Universal's courses. They do a great job, and for alot less than the $900 you would spend on PC "sim". Class is run using actual UNS's, so real...

I hope TSA has a screening point on one of the dunes. This could be some sort of Al Qaeda plot!

    JetBlue Staffing of the EMB's

Great detail in answer! Can you give one more thing? What's the ballpark # of the most junior person on property (and as of what date) Thanks!

    Cessna 310 info

WrightAvia's comments are right on the money! The door can be closed with demeanor and grace. Says it all about the airplane. Learn to close the door, and fly it with the same style. Slam it around, and yes, you will close it, but...... Know "the numbers". For the later fuel injection...

    Chicago Closed 6/11 AM

Or is this another ploy by Dailey to tear up some runways at Ohare now?

    How Pan Am is doing?

727 Sim is being dimantled and moved to Altheon (former FS Boeing) in Sanford. They moved the schedule ahead, I've got to reschedule some PC's now. D'oh!. Pretty nice level D 727 sim. Not to many good ones around anymore.

    First Vac Pump Failure

thread reminds me of a tip to pass on beware of "dual vac" installtions. concept is splendid, but as pilot and MX I've seen more than one dual vac install s-h=i=* the bed. Vac line has a check valve of sorts, but when a pump fails, often impeller and assemly flies apart, and the "stuff"...

Anyone with experience in older C310's

top of the trunion, not easy to really inspect, but I hear that's where the nose gear failure begins. Hairline cracks, but I doubt they show on a visual. Perhaps dye penetrant, but the nature of it would require removal for inspection. Trust thy mechanic, and dont let anybody land nosewheel...

Anyone with experience in older C310's

Dont have your students manually extend the gear. It's nice to do on a checkout, and on aircraft like the Apache, or Piper singles, Cessna retractable singles it's nice, but on the C310's I've seen, (and the one I owned used for instruction) the manual extension has a very weak link...

    Flying without License

Fax from OKC is the closest thing to a photocopy that would be legal. Just having a copy of your certificate is no good. Most airlines, and operators (135) etc that are a step ahead of things have applied for and received exemption 53xx (sorry, dont recall exact number). If an operator is...

    Procedural Question: Fire at rotation

At brand X, Y and Z, on B727, B737, MD80, it has been procedure to fly the airplane, clean up, then go for the memory items, followed by the abnormal/non-normal or emergency checklist, followed by the normal checklist. ie. Positive Rate, Gear Up <silence the bell>, flaps 5, flaps 1, flaps up...

Sudent been flying ILLEGALLY - Help!!!

Okam's Razor, and Ollie North... Go to the doctor, get a new medical and student pilot certificate. The new certificate does not indicate date of previous certificate, so somebody would have to be looking for a discrepency. If anybody even bothers to ask about the old one, "I lost it", or "it...

Pt 135 - Director of Maintenance

Assuming you could get a waiver (AFS-200 I believe, assuming FSDO/CMO supports it)... Make sure you like the way they do business. Your name in the Opspecs. If they end up loosing the certificate, you might be permanantly blacklisted from management position under part 121/135/125 etc. Gave...

FAA "Loss of Separation" Letter. (?)

Like others suggested, get a Lawyer ASAP, and let counsel answer the letter. If you are on a island free of lawyers and telephones, and insist on answering the letter yourself within 10 days, keep in mind that you must reply only (i.e acknowledge receipt), not confess or tell your story. Tell...

    ASE arrival slots

re: Cancelling and continuing VFR.... We took PAX to Hayden today, and I heard someone cancel IFR, to continue VFR to EGE.... Controller's response was "I dont think they are accepting VFR's...." due to volume.... Not sure they are really allowed to restrict VFR under the STMP program, but...
