Delta ramping up 717 flights in ATL and DTW. Thanks SWA!

Sounds silly, but it'll be neat to see narrowbodies in SHV and LFT.

    9 seats one pilot

And one incapacitated pilot event and/or smoking hole for the media and lawmakers to be screaming about how stupid an idea it was. You'd be effectively dropping to a single point of failure in an aircraft that was certified with redundancy in mind. You'll see Part 91 single pilot G650ERs...

    9 seats one pilot

As somebody that flies a Part 23 single pilot jet...I seriously doubt I will see Part 25 jets flown by a single pilot, especially 121, in my lifetime. Think about it - folks that are hitting 65 were told as kids that we'd all have flying cars by now...

    FAA extends retirement to 70

That's because Sunday Times Daily is a website where people can create fake news.

    Longest part 91 duty day

Max flight time was about 11 hours with a hair under 14 of duty...3 legs. I was ready to climb out of the aluminum coffin known as a CJ by the time I was done, but felt just fine. 14-16hr duty days weren't uncommon for us a few years back, but they were generally proceeded and followed by at...

Pilots Union Says There Wouldn?t Be a Pilot Shortage if Pay Was Higher

While I agree with you about artificially restricting pilot supply with the 1500hr rule and issues with resupplying the bottom, that has not yet manifested itself. I am of the mindset that it will have an impact, but will not be a nail in the coffin. As for the red text...one has to look at...

    Yup. Again...shortage vs. scarcity.

Pilots Union Says There Wouldn?t Be a Pilot Shortage if Pay Was Higher

There is no industry-wide pilot shortage; there most certainly is no scarcity of pilots. COULD there be an industry-wide pilot shortage in the future? Probably not but maybe, anything is possible. National scarcity of pilots? Doubtful as fewer, larger airplanes fly routes less...

Pilots Union Says There Wouldn?t Be a Pilot Shortage if Pay Was Higher

A scarcity of pilots (or widgets) means there are not enough pilots (or widgets), period. A shortage of pilots (or widgets) means there are not enough pilots (or widgets) at the current price level. Raise the price, the shortage goes away. This is why United, Delta, and US AAirways have 10k...

    Shortage does not equal scarcity.

I am Confused, Should I Right it Up?

If discrepancies are legitimate maintenance issues...how could the company legally justify punitive action against a pilot that wrote those items up?

Why would Inc. buy two unprofitable regional airlines?

    Skywest/ExpressJet plan

Manpower management has two primary parts: employee recruitment, and employee retention. If the company cannot properly staff through recruitment (agreed, not really influenced by the pilot group), retention of existing employees becomes critical. While you can't hope to retain everybody, you...

    American CRJ and ERJ order.

Brilliant business move in the part of management - controlling costs by controlling the metal with the ability to shuffle if costs get too high. Proof positive there's no long term job security in contract lift. Too bad the large small jets aren't at the bottom of the mainline totem pole...

Boeing charges Army for new helicopter parts but uses old ones

Rebuilt parts are the way of the world and should have just as much longevity as new (admittedly warranties are typically shorter on less expensive vs. new reman parts). That said, if Uncle Sam paid for new, they should get new.
